I think it's quite a fun league. Even the midtable and lower table matches are watchable to me.

Meh, not only compared with Serie A, Bundesliga is the league with the best atmosphere in Europe.
But Geisterspiel now ....

Exactly
the much-lauded atmosphere will not exactly be a factor
the Bayern ultras have publicly come out against resuming without fans
but the league is doing it for financial reasons
basically, the whole rest of this Bundesliga season will be one big Schalke 'Soli-Party'...

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
If we have to wait until fans can attend there won’t be any football until 2021 for sure, which would be disastrous for the sport. I’m all for restarting behind closed doors as long as it’s safe.

Assuming things dont change in the next 24 hours, football will be back.
Well, I am feeling better, luckily I had some toothpaste in the cupboard and could brush my teeth. Yeah Heiko, I use the same euphemism for cocaine as well.
So the biggest game in the history of football is on this Saturday, everyone will be watching the Ruhr Derby. Not live mind you, Cardboard cutouts will be screaming wildly at the live games. So are Miners still working in Germany? Are the mines even open? Seems like the kinda place you could easily transmit airborne diseases.
Anyhow, this derby is statistically very close, if you look at only league games
Statistik Bundesliga
95 Spiele
33 BVB wins
30 ties
32 Schalke wins
In all competitive matches
Gesamtstatistik
103 Spiele
(95 BL, 6 DFB-Pokal, 1 Liga-Pokal, 1 Supercup)
35 BVB wins
31 Ties
37 Schalke wins
So who will actually be playing, if you guessed Marco Reus is out injured, you are correct, well partially correct.
Es fehlen
Can (Faserriss), Oelschlägel (nicht berücksichtigt), Reus (Aufbautraining), N. Schulz (Muskuläre Probleme), Unbehaun (nicht berücksichtigt), Witsel (Faserriss), Zagadou (Außenbandanriss)
Kabak (Lendenwirbelfraktur), Mi. Langer (nicht berücksichtigt), Mascarell (Sehnenabriss in den Adduktoren), Stambouli (Aufbautraining)
I dont know what kind of tear Can has, but it must be serious, everyone has had months of lockdown recuperation time. I dont know, maybe Marco does not have a treadmill and free weights at home? I get it if you had a broken leg, I get it if you had a groin tear, if your knee tear is that bad (I have had ones which took months to heal) you may be nearing the end of your career, but everyone else should be ready to play. I am quite sure all these players could afford to buy a stationary bike and a TENS machine.
It is not like you could go out and party every night at the nightclubs-which is a valid excuse in my mind. How often can you get drunk with your wife in two months?
For me , around 30 times.
So the starting 11s according to kicker
BVB
Voraussichtliche Aufstellung
Bürki - Piszczek, Hummels, Akanji - Hakimi, Brandt, Delaney, Guerreiro - Sancho, Haaland, T. Hazard
Reservebank
Hitz, Balerdi, Morey, Schmelzer, Dahoud, Raschl, Reyna, M. Götze
Schalke
Voraussichtliche Aufstellung
Schubert - Kenny, Todibo, Nastasic, Oczipka - McKennie, S. Serdar - Caligiuri, Harit - Burgstaller, Raman
Reservebank
Nübel, Becker, Miranda, Sané, Thiaw, Boujellab, Matondo, Mercan, Schöpf, Gregoritsch, Kutucu
The Manchild is starting for BVB, was he starting before the Covid69 crisis?
I am still kind of waiting for a last minute cancellation, but hopefully not, this shitty little virus has wasted too much time, barely killed anyone compared to 1918 virus and way more fuss, I am wearing a mask when I pump gas, used to get arrested for doing that.

we'll try but I think it will be hard
'ghost games' are basically unwatchable, you need a lot of emotional investment to pull it through
can't see myself mustering up that kind of will power to stay with a game for any other than Bayern games, and I don't imagine this Bundesliga in empty stadiums to become much of a ratings hit tbh, even if BT etc. shows all games and there's literally no other football lol

He went out at night to get toothpaste
now it all makes sense
my toothpaste is in the fridge though, not the cupboard

I have been drunk three times since Sunday, burned through 1 and a quarter bottles of Tequila. And the triple sec has 40% too, mind you.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
Football is back and everything is back to normal again, thank goodness!
If you did not blow all your money on booze and toilet paper, for under 5 Euro you can own a piece of Real Murcia, no really, shares are only .12euro cents
https://www.realmurcia.es/hazlosuyo/en/panelNoAccionistas.php
Well, I am glad this Covid 69 thing is over, I have come full circle, this was just a highly contagious flu that only kills old people. So yeah, everything is back to normal now and nothing bad can ever happen again, well at least not in my lifetime.
Seems like such a long time since I was watching Werder getting relegated? I am pretty sure they were in the last relegation spot, I dont want to look at the standings, it will just influence my predictions. You have to look at these games from a different point of view now. Who really wants to play, who is afraid, who wants to get within two metres of another player while breathing heavily and spitting everywhere?
I think you want to pick the team with the most East Germans, White Russians and Swedes, they have no fear of this poorly, man made flu... that barely killed enough people for the amount of time and damage it has done. The 1918 flu was proper, this was BS.
Didnt Germany just have a covid rebound back up yesterday, probably go back down tomorrow, unless the rumours are true that bars and restaurants are now open? Ohhh I miss bars and restaurants.... and football and sitting at campfires and drunken conversations with people who are not my wife.
Did catch my first Lake Char during this thing.....that is really the one and only good thing that I can say has happened during this whole, horrible, overblown fucking corona virus episode... that is finally over and finished.
Is this actually gonna happen?
Düsseldorf - Paderborn
Honestly, I could not name one Paderborn player, I may not have been able to do that two months ago either. No one will want to get close enough to defend, so these will be like basketball games
7-4
Dortmund - Schalke
ON TV and not even specialty, I wonder if every country in the universe will watch this game?
6-5
Leipzig - Freiburg
East Germans (is Timo Werner East Germans, he kinda looks it?) vs Streich, neither will have any fear of Covid 69
4-4
Hoffenheim - Hertha BSC
I forget who replaced Klinsmann, not Magath... but it was somebody...Handsome Bruno, new coach, he wont like covid or wearing masks.
5-3
Köln - Mainz
I forget which one of these I want to lose more?
3-3
Union - Bayern
East Germans, especially Berliners, will have no fear of covid, Bavarians will prolly be too scared and not even show up.
2-0 forfeit win
Frankfurt - Gladbach
These games are gonna be cancelled any minute now.
3-4
Augsburg - Wolfsburg
I am so football starved that I will watch this game, possibly even on delay. Hope they dont show scores of the other games while they air the live games.
Bremen - Leverkusen
I can not believe they have a game on the May Two-Four weekend, Monday game no less! (only Canadians will get the 2-4 reference) This is the greatest weekend on the Iceberg!
Normally, people would be at the cottage this weekend, this would be the start of summer on the Iceberg, you know, fireworks, beers, fires, boats, possible nude swimming etc. But many Ontarians have been blocked by the Quebec Gestapo from going to their cottages (luckily I have papers and can freely travel between provinces)not to mention, no one will be getting within two metres of each other, not to mention no one will be visiting anyone, not to mention I think they banned fires during the "crisi" "under state of emergency until June 5"... This might just be the saddest Queen Julia Day in Canadian history. I wonder what May Day was like in Europe this year?
2-5
Thank goodness I am now a shareholder of Real Murcia.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
Decided to cancel my Strive subscription and start up Viaplay to get access to Bundesliga and watch today’s matches. Found out that in order to cancel with Strive, you can’t simply uncheck a box, you have to mail Strive directly and then wait for a response. What friggin shady, garage company is this? I can’t believe Strive has been Scandinavia’s only option for La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A up until now. Disgraceful.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
It would appear this is really happening, div 2 games being played, players actually getting within two metres of each other, in fact the picture on the kicker website has them actually touching each other! Never before has a Hygienekonzept brought people so much joy.
Cant tell from the pictures if the 2nd div has cardboard fans or not, if I was not so hungover, I would try and find a stream of a game, to make sure this is not a drunken dream.

It is going to take some time to get use to the lack of crowd noise and the empty stadium, training ground feeling of the games. I almost think it would be better with sound off and Kraftwerk blaring in the background.
