Chill out, we got the new Firmino in Brewster and Lallana to make his 1253th "like a new signing" comeback :coffee:

I love how PL sold Hazard and more than replaced him already with Pepe and Pulisic and Keane and Ceballos and Dybala.

Debatable, but when our options are an over the hill Giroud, or an only good a finishing Batshuayi, a highly promising Abraham is the best long term bet.

If United get Dybala in (assume no other signings, maybe Mandzukic)

curious how you think our season will be ? (no trolling pls) need Jay's insight tbh

I think we'll challenge top 4 because Chelsea and Arsenal don't look much improved, too many questions and holes in your teams

Don't think any of those clubs has got a question mark as big as Ole

I would have said so too, a few months ago, before I learned about the thing with Ole not parking on the managers spot as it still belongs to SAF in his mind.
When I read that, Ole's question mark outgrew all other question marks tbh.
Lampard's authoritative abilities apparently >>>>

Not saying he'll be bad, saying it is very much in doubt whether he'll be good.

United should be challenging top four without Dybala tbh.

If they get him, they would have improved the technical quality of their front-line. He might not score more than Lukaku did, but I would trust Dybala's control in tighter spaces, and ability to link-up with other attackers more.

A frontline of Martial-Dybala-Rashford would be very strong. Back that up with Pogba's runs from midfield and it's an attack as good as Arsenal's or Spurs'.

Maguire is good, better than what they have regardless of the money spent. He's dominant in the air, and has good pace once he gets going. He's fun to watch when he's dribbling the ball out of defence, but I think he does that to compensate how one-footed he is on the ball, as it limits his passing a lot. Don't know if Lindelof is good now, and I have doubts about Smalling, Jones and Bailley.

Wan-Bissaka is a talent. Strong defensively, not so good going forward, should compliment the more attacking Shaw on the other side.

United's main concern imo is their midfield quality. Is Matic still mobile enough to screen the defence? Who will partner him? I don't see a lot of technical quality there. I think they're going to be very reliant on transitions if they can't get someone for that position. At which point, it comes to Ole turning the team into a better pressing unit. Last season, he had United playing in a passive low-block, which looked ugly and put pressure on their fragile defence. I don't think that's the way to get the most out of this squad.

Chelsea are hard to evaluate because Lampard hasn't managed a lot. He wants Chelsea to press, and I think he prefers 4231/433, but I don't know how else he wants them to play. The obvious weakness for them is in attack. Abraham is promising and need a chance at a higher level. He's got great instincts and physicality, but he hasn't got the composure yet. Giroud is Giroud, useful to have but never going to be good enough to lead the attack every game. Pedro and Willian are ageing, Pulisic could be good but needs confidence. Their midfield options are really strong, though. Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Barkley finally settling in, Loftus-Cheek to come back, Mason Mount potentially getting first team minutes (Lampard loves him, probably because he reminds him of him).

Spurs are shoe-ins for top four as they are. Still a strong team, midfield is better with Ndombele in it, could get even stronger with Lo Celso or Fernandes. Kane is still there, Son seems to have gone up a level, Lucas Moura seems settled, Alli is still around even if he's been forgotten a bit. Defensive depth is their only real concern.

Arsenal are going to try and win every game 6-5. Pepe adds much needed dribbling and flair to the attack, and Ceballos could be a smart signing to help with ball progression in midfield. Their defence is still trash, though.

^^ meaning the top 4 battle between Arsenal, United and Chelsea should be a thing again this season. Hopefully, it isn't as tragic as towards the end of last season where it seemed like neither of them wanted to finish 4th Laughing

Liverpool absolutely NEED to buy someone

would be moronic not to provide any input, it's bad for drive and intensity

Bit surprised Liverpool haven't gone for a CB and a CAM. I suppose they are counting Oxlade as a new signing and brewster as a backup ST.

We don't really play with CAMs and our CB options are just fine, but there's no sound reason to not buy a striker. Firmino, Origi and Brewster as your striker force is just asking for trouble. A left-back would be good, too, but I guess Miraculous Milner will cover for that position.

Brewster won't start a single game. Wilson has higher chances of starting than him. Kent is leaving I guess and he's turned Lallana into a number 6. So we just Shaqiri and Wilson are options on the wings.

We have 0 fullback cover as well. Clyne is out for 6 months with an ACL.

Anyways it begins tonight, expect City to blow us away comfortably today.

No they won't, there's a big difference between a 38 game season and a one off game.

LFC XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Origi, Salah, Firmino.

MCFC XI: Bravo, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Zinchenko, Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Sane, Bernardo, Sterling.

Really feels like a pre-season game
