I'm hyped af but at the same time my standards are pretty low. I'll be happy with anything

Hype doesn't really effect me, i can't recall the last time something genuinely disappointed me.

Re: The Witcher TV series
Ah thanks for clearing that up Mole and glad you're on board with the hype train that may be spectacularly derailed upon first viewing.
On that note Witcher for me has the essence of a show that will not surprise me if it is a critical success but simultaneously not surprise me if it is utter garbage.
Final trailer looks superb but I still cannot get the feeling that it may come out to be a lot of style and not enough substance and the same goes for Cavill who I support and am happy that he plays the role. But I fear despite his sheer passion to play Geralt along with his talent we may see an actor trying too hard to play the role without truly being him. Such is the product of my skepticism resulting from my anxiety that the show will fail since some red flags are apparent on view.
Genuinely hope I am wrong and more bound to be wrong than right here since I've only watched a combined total of 4-5 shows in my life.

This fucking dude sounds and looks like a Polish GRRM. He seems like the grandpa you wish you had.
Do all these fantasy dudes just sound the same?

Pretty sure that’s not true. reading up on he was owed money according to polish law, and settled with CDPR out of court.

The guy still comes of as an arrogant asshole. His comments on the games reek of jealousy and bitterness. I remember the author of the Metro series calling him out on a number of occasions. GRRM seems like a lovely guy, way better than Sapowski.

Isn't it part of the polish constitution that if an artist sells his rights for peanuts he has a right to a larger share of the profits? sounds to me like he had a legitimate case under the law...Myesyats wrote:He's a dumbnut lol

Yeah CDPR said they didn't want their relationship with him ( whatever it might be) to sour and it seemed a pretty amicable solution with little bitterness.

Pretty good. Combat being incredible is the main takeaway. Cavill is really good.
Negative is it can be hard to follow for casuals because of the high fantasy nature.

Ah. Thanks for including negatives. A first impressions by the never disappointed, Mr. Mole would probably look like this: «it’s really good. I enjoy it. Thumbs up»
I’ll binge through the released episodes tonight

Re: The Witcher TV series
Since all episodes were released in one day i think it would be best if we use spoiler tag in this thread for people who are behind.

Re: The Witcher TV series
Yeah in regards to plot points I agree.
Vague comments and comments about a character confirmed to be in the show I won’t put in spoiler tags because it will basically end general conversation.
Really like Yennefer so far.

- General spoiler:
- timelines a bit fuzzy. But I reckon Geralt and Yennefers stories are a bit in the past. At least Geralt in the first episode. While Ciri is in the “present” or whatever you may call it.

Re: The Witcher TV series
I have quite a few, mostly minor issues with the first episode, but I’ll keep them to myself since I’m likely the only one on here who cares about them. That fighting scene near the end of the episode was pretty neat, and mostly well choreographed! I think it was a bit silly that he had to «finish off» a guy who was already pinned against a door, but other than that, it was a cool looking scene - albeit, quite an ironically understated scene considering the context and meaning of it.

I saw a trailer for Witcher when I watched Star Wars last night.
Lars Mikkelsen introduces the commercial talking in a cockney accent, and then he has a Danish accent in the show. I’m really confused
Don’t know why he didn’t speak Danish the

Re: The Witcher TV series
Good vibes after the 1st episode, it'll probably take me a week to watch the whole thing though. Not much free time but also I wanna enjoy it one by one, not watch the damn thing in 2 days.
But I loved how it starts, fast pacing from the beginning, zero bs. Lots of shows start really slowly

Re: The Witcher TV series
Given I am one to be influenced by reviews I am rather concerned and disappointed Witcher has not received the critical acclaim I wanted it to. Yes I have not see it and if I watch it for what it is likely will love it.
Individual fan/casual viewer opinions seem unanimously good but for some reason critics are lukewarm to it for the overall season. TV shows usually have high ratings critically compared to films, in terms of score and for Witcher to be around the low 70s makes me wonder how I will view upon it.
Maybe the next season will improve should the team look upon what needs work on but I am glad to see Cavill as Geralt seems to be praised by all.
