Best ODI match I have seen in over 20 years. Thank you, thank you England & NZ. This is the cricket I fell in love with.

On boundaries. Incredible.

Four years ago New Zealand smashed us and Bangladesh knocked us out the WC. We were ranked 7th in the World. It's been some journey.

New Zealand were amazing, too. Pushed it all the way, probably even deserved to win but didn't have the luck right at the end. Gotta admire their spirit and skill with the ball and in the field.

Just like a Juve fan to be won over by a loveable loser.

No time for losers here in GREAT britain.

what is the boundaries rule? Most boundaries in the super over or most boundaries in the original 50 overs?

Imo this match would have gained many cricket fans or atleast bought back the ones that lost interest in the game

what a great advert for the sport

still prefer test cricket over ODI's

Considering you support both Newcastle and the Pelicans, clearly you have time for losers of many varieties.

Good thing it was on free-to-air TV in the UK. Could not have asked for a better match to show people what cricket can be all about.

It's complicated af but the tension is unreal. Won't find it in any other sport imo.

In the original 50 overs

horrendous rule. So what about game context and management during those original 50 overs.

Play super overs until a team gets more runs

In all seriousness, considering they way England dominated ODI cricket in the last two years and considering how they came back after getting battered against Pakistan and Sri Lanka , it was probably fitting in the end to see them winning this tournament

New Zealand had this in their grasp but destiny was with England

Yeah, can't complain about luck ever again. Of course you need luck to win these things, but everything went our way right at the last moment.

And I agree the boundary rule is daft. It's like stopping a penalty shootout at 5-5 and giving the win to the team with the most shots on target. It's an arbitrary difference maker that favours batsmen (why not more wickets taken, for example) and you'd rather there be a clear winner in the end.

That said, it all added to an incredible game.

Kane Williamson named Player of the Tournament.

No complaints from me. That guy scored the majority of NZ's runs and his captaincy today and in the semi's was outstanding.

I have already seen a huge amount of interest in Cricket because of this WC. It has been incredible really.

Some amazing performances. Underdogs brought their A game too.

Making a team of the WC is so difficult.

What a fucking final holy shit.

Super over in a World Cup final, and that too ends in a tie on scores.

Can't imagine the heart rate of England fans and NZ fans.

England got massive luck.

That 4 for over throw and then this boundary rule deciding the match. Unbelievable luck.
