I dont think situation is as dire as painted.
If we look at the defense, MaTs still has 6,7 years at the very top. Lenglet is young. We have RB covered if Semedo and Wague get a chance. Lenglet and Umtiti can cover LCB. Pique is getting on but MDL is heavily rumored. May or may not come. I am in favor of giving Todibo a chance. Either way, Pique can continue a couple more seasons given he has retired from Spain. LB is a major concern given we have no Alba backup. I am hoping we give Cucu a chance even though he played LW at Eibar. It's a concern and we need to start looking for replacements.

Midfield is in good shape imo. Arthur has a years experience under his belt. FDJ comes in. Alena will get more time next season. I know Alena does not look like starting quality but at the very least he is a good squad option for midfield. Ideally, we get rid of Busquets and get a good physical B2B but thats not going to happen. Most likely, Rakitic leaves and the rest stay as is.

Forward areas is a bit of a concern. Dembele if he stays fit will be a star. Messi can go another 2,3 years easily given he barely runs. Suarez needs a replacement but Griezman is not the answer. I think we should play the waiting game and save the money for a really good alternative who might emerge.

Overall, we LB and striker need addressing but otherwise not as bad imo.

MDL might be considering moving to United or PSG since we are holding firm on wages. Good move imo. Line needs to be drawn on wages sooner rather than later.
No chance of happening, but what do folks think of a Coutinho Pogba swap. Pogba I feel can add a lot to our midfield. He brings pace, athleticism and physicality that we desperately need in midfield. A midfield of FDJ, Arthur and Pogba would be very good and would have everything.

Pogba has those attributes in theory but doesn't make use of them very often. I mean we played against him 3 times and do you remember any instance of "wow" or even simply outmuscling anyone?

On top of that I doubt Coutinho to United is going to happen. I actually doubt anyone is going to buy Coutinho from us, unless Neymar makes a demand that he wants his Brazilian buddy at PSG.

Given the 4-4-2 we play, I do think we need pace and athleticism in midfield. FDJ has it, we need one more. A younger Vidal or Rakitic if you will. If not Pogba, who else?

Lucas Torreira. Don't let that small stature fool you. He has held his own in two physical leagues (EPL and Serie A) against bigger players and he is quick and tireless. I've been impressed by him whenever I've watched him. He is a fantastic fighter, tackler, technically gifted who likes going into the box to score. Still a diamond in the rough but he is a bet worth taking IMHO.

Looks increasingly likely that MDL might not sign. Not concerned. 80 mil and obscene wages. Would much rather pass. Now just need to avoid Griezman. I would much rather save the cash for next season and look for better opportunities. Must not get carried away by Madrid's spending. They have signed a bunch of unknowns except Hazard.

I do want a physical B2B who can carry Messi's water and perform the thankless task. Heard good things about Ndombele who plays DM for Lyon. He looks phsyically strong and athletic with a decent technique.
That would mean Ndombele DM, Arthur LM and FDJ carrying Messi's water on the right.
Alternatively, FDJ plays DM, Arthur LM and we get a B2B for the right who can run all night and carry Messi. Either way, get rid of Busquets who is a washed up good for nothing player now. His tired, lame ass tricks no longer work in 2019.

Stupid stupid transfer. Instead, we should have held on to the money and rode it out for another year. See if other talents emerge. Maybe, Mbappe becomes available. Sure, he would be enticed by the prospect of taking the mantle from Suarez and soon after Messi.

He is totally out of place in England. His latest interview was depressing, he misses Italy after 5 years there and said he doesnt enjoy many things in the UK. Probably Spain would be a very welcome change for him.

Why cant we just sit on the cash and not spend a fortune on bad buys? Get rid of the deadweight, blood FDJ, Alena and possibly Puig into the squad. Give Todibo a chance instead of spending a fortune on MDL.

Because Barcaforum is just a sample of how the expectations of the club have been greatly...skewed. Barcelona doesn't need Antoine nor do they need Neymar. Those are vanity signings which would be fine but not a necessity.

To me, Barcelona really need more dynamism in their midfield (with Valverde's structure that is). Way more. Whenever a team shows up that can could run at them hard, Barcelona is usually on the back foot and has to really depend on Messi to pull off something to ease them up. And also, I guess a LB to start the process of replacing Alba.

Neymar is not only older and more injury prone, he's also gone full on egotistical and immature. After the way he left there should be no way Barça would have him back. It's disaster written all over it.

Like Doc said you have more vital areas to strengthen and if you can't get the players this year sit on the money and sign next year.

He might be but he is still an unproven kid. We are struggling to sell Gomes to an English side swimming in money.
I think we are too kind when it comes to selling. Too often willing to accommodate player's wishes. Should be more cutthroat and ruthless like Madrid.

Do remember Alex, Madrid basically gave away Robben and Sneijder so they weren't always so efficient in player sales. Also, yearly shipments of English honey almost made me spit out tea ffs lol.

Coutinho plus 50, then yes. Neymar is just a much better player. Best case would be a Neymar and Messi swap. Neymar becomes the talisman of the team, Dembele moves left which is his natural position. Pace on both flanks. We would be lethal. Coutinho as backup.

Money is not the issue, Nasser's stubborness is.

I wish we could sell Messi and build a new team around Neymar. Time for a new era.

Hopefully Neymar comes back, at this point I would exchange pretty much anyone else other than Messi. Dembele completely deflated on me with his single action last season, the team was in pure downfall after that. I mean omg, what on earth happened there? Messi's look after it was probably the same that Brutus got. Messi with Neymar is proven concept, and should work no problem. That way Messi would get Neymar's prime years, and get the eventual sending off that he deserves.
