Re: General Games Discussion
A lot of foreigners seem to associate Norway with snow and ice and long periods of darkness, yet I'm looking at a forecast of sunny days with with about 18-19 hours of light outside, 25-28C for at least the next week and a half, and an indoor climate that has me sweating buckets, although it's almost midnight here and I'm wearing nothing but briefs. Good thing I bought an A/C unit for our bedroom, at least I spent about £1500 on the A/C and an additional air purifier unit, light proof curtains, a Phillips alarm clock that simulates sunlight when it wakes me up, and a water-based fan that blows cold, purified air that you can add different smells to. I have no regrets. I look forward to going to sleep now. Sometimes, I'm almost tempted to go to sleep early, just because the climate in our bedroom is so damn refreshing. I wake up feeling like I have 3 big-titted porn stars next to me. Best investment, ever. Life is good.

Re: General Games Discussion
I'll always have feelings of sentimentality towards classic WoW. I have so many great memories from that game, and I don't think there's ever going to be another game that I'll be even close to as invested in, but I really don't feel like returning to it at the age of 30. It's just not the same. Even if I still owned a computer, there's just no way I'd be able to play an MMO again. Maybe when I'm old, retired, and my girlfriend or wife has absolutely no bargaining chips left.

Man I really wish I had the means of getting into WOW. My parents used to think it's a scam to pay online subscriptions to games so i never really got to play it. Had to resort to other knock off versions (which i enjoyed greatly but never the same).

I didn't even want to play WoW, initially. I never played CS either. I spent pretty much all of my free time playing basketball, tennis, football, and even skateboarding, up until I started in college. My college class was full of computer nerds, and they convinced me to get this new online game that was massively hyped up at the time. I reluctantly agreed then, but I had no clue how much time and effort I would sink into it... or how much it would impact my daily life, in general. I even had a girlfriend at the time, who ended up breaking up with me because she claimed I prioritized playing WoW over her, which sounds about as pathetic as it was. It left a lingering scar on my sleep rhythm, as well. But I loved that game.
I remember looking forward to getting home from school, just to log onto WoW and play with friends from school and people I had gotten to know in the game. We would communicate through Ventrilo, and I talked to people from all over the world. I even met with some of them in person, and I still, on rare occasions, hang out with a few of my former guild mates who don't live too far away. The game definitely had an impact on me, and I'm not sure if I would've enjoyed gaming quite to the same extent if it wasn't for WoW. PvP in that game was so exhilarating. Nothing beats being attacked by some random bypasser out in the wild, and turning the battle around despite being jumped while being occupied with something else. It was truly a generation defining game, and I imagine it's still one of, if not the most played game that had the largest consumer base at it's peak.
A memory that stuck with me was a raid where, one of the top members of the guild went to take a shit while forgetting to turn off his microphone. Somehow, he managed to mute the headset, but not his microphone, so 39 people were listening to him taking loud dumps in the toilet. We were all laughing, but he couldn't hear us. I laughed so hard my stomach was aching.

It's probably cause you are sub-pleb tbh.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Couldn't care less about World of Plebcraft tbh.
@Thimmy I can identify with pretty much everything you said, except I was a Warcraft III fan and was very much looking forward to WoW's release. I remember getting the box on release day with my dad and kept nagging him to take me home to play it, despite him having errands to attend to Once I entered the Azeroth, my teenage years were destined to be different that I had planned. I fell in love with it the moment I logged in. The fact that you were in a fantasy world with so many other people was such a new experience and was absolutely thrilling.
I played that game for 2.5 years before I finally quit. I also made a lot of friends through my guild. I remember playing Battlegrounds when they first came out from the moment I got home from school to the moment I had to sleep, slowly building up my Honor rating and becoming the most feared mage on the server. And without doubt playing PvP in WoW created the most memorable moments in my gaming life.
Re: General Games Discussion
PvP was too addictive, man I played it for about 2.5 years, myself. I actually ended up selling my account for 350 euros to some Belgian kid. I've missed playing WoW since then, but part of the charm was that the game was so ahead of it's time. Also, I don't miss staying up all night doing 40 or 20-man raids and feeling hungover at school/work the next day But yeah, the memories of that game are countless.
My most awkward moment was probably when a friend of mine, who was a mage officer in a top 3 guild, asked me if I could lead a raid on his account and tell the guild that I couldn't talk because he had a cold. It went fine for the most part, and I felt really proud to have broken his previous damage record, but unsurprisingly, I got cocky and eventually wiped out my entire team at the last boss because I was so caught up in breaking damage records that I aggro'd the boss and ultimately embarrased not only myself, but the actual owner of the account. Listening to people shout at me through their mics was not fun, but the memory of it still cracks me up.

Re: General Games Discussion
I missed out on raiding altogether due to being obsessed with PvP. They were more of a time sink than PvP although I probably ended up playing as many hours as the raiders on my realm
I still have my account to this date, although I ended up giving it to my youngest brother who still plays to this date, although only occasionally with me having a peek every now and again.
I must say playing Classic does give me the same buzz as it did a decade ago. I wonder how long the nostalgia will last.

Re: General Games Discussion
Raiding was fun, when you did it the first few times and you were still learning how to get through new dungeons as a unit. It required coordination and cooperation, and there was a certain satisfaction to being the first, or among the first guilds to conquer a newly released boss or dungeon. That said, those challenges quickly become stale, boring and repetitive, and I found myself doing it partly out of obligation to my guild, and partly as a means of getting better gear for PvP. PvP was, by far, the most entertaining part of the game. Especially, when you came in fully decked out in high-end, raid gear and you could see in your enemies that they were vary of you, and sometimes even going out of their way to avoid you. I know I had a tendency to avoid the top ranked PvP players. Coming up against players with the general-something equipment on was a bit intimidating, at times. I always wanted to get the top PvP gear, but that just wasn't possible for me, as long as I was in a guild that prioritized raids. Having to re-spec inbetween raids and PvP sessions was a pain in the ass, as well. I usually ended up with a hybrid build that wasn't completely ideal for either of them.

My super early impressions of Control is it's fantastic.
Great level design, really fun combat, really atmospheric and eery supernatural tone surrounding the story and really cool lore.

I'll be honest - I hadn't even heard of it until 2 days ago. It definitely is on my radar now, though.

I think you said it looked «meh» when I posted the trailer on here. Or maybe it was RG. Can’t tell you apart when it comes to gaming thoughts sometimes

Anything made by the highly talented and underrated Remedy will have my interest so glad to hear from Mole and critics that Control is turning out to be very good.
