I blame GRRM as well for this shit, this is the ending he envisioned and D&D are the dudes who actually had to put it to paper unlike the old man. Pretty sure it's going to be crap in the books as well, just as the last two books were.

The episode itself was fantastic imo. Writing aside.

"Piece of shit of an episode" comments aren't warranted. It wasn't that bad.

It's a very cliché ending with Daenerys turning mad and getting killed by Jon though, not very satisfying, that much I agree with.

Also, folks criticising "lots of scenes with innocent people dying" what do you think war/battle is? flowers and dancing around a bonfire?

My mind actually went back to the scene. Oh that scene, sigh. What a way to end his arc. Like I said, I get why all you guys hate this episode or how it turned out. Hyperbolic or not, the disdain is justified.

Unpopular opinion incoming. The last two books, on its own was disappointing. The plot does not move forward much and its especially jarring after the breakneck pace of ASOS. But the combined version edited by fans, named a Ball Of Beasts, which was the way GRRM meant to release it is great. Its as good as the first two books. The pacing is much better and far more crisp. It may sound contradictory considering it is a tome of 1500+ pages but the read is much better. For example jumping immediately from a Cersei chapter where she despairs about Tyrion to a Tyrion chapter, or  from Arianne chapter where the Fire and Blood speech is made to the first Quentyn chapter makes for a much better read. Plot developments and revelations are strewn about throughout the combined book making it way more balanced. For me it felt a lot like the huge Malazan books where things are slowly built up and then explodes.

The ending is still jarring though. That is because GRRM moved the last 200 pages of Dance to Winds. The climaxes of Battle Of Fire and Battle Of Ice being missing makes it incomplete. Thats why I always get excited when thinking about Winds, knowing that the ticking time bomb will explode. Battle Of Fire and Ice will be within the first 200 pages, Aegon and the Golden Company have already landed in the Stormlands, Euron has begun his invasion of the Reach, Kings Landing and the Wall is set to implode after the deaths of Kevan and Jon respectively. Then the feeling of deflation comes when I remember GRRM is never finishing it.

If they had just spent the budgets for 20 of the 30 mins of cgi of exploding buildings and burning people and put it towards splitting last episode in 2 and creating 40 mins worth of character development for Dany the last 2 episodes would have been much better. In the end it just leaves you numb.

But what pissed me off the most was him telling Tyrion he never cared about the people of Kings Landing. The reason he killed Aerys was because he was going to kill innocents in Kings Landing. The act Jaime became hated for but he regards as his greatest achievement. I don't even know what to say on Jaime's fight with Euron. That was TERRIBLE. Euron saying lines that rival his legendary "LETS GO MURDER THEM" and him provoking Jaime because by saying he fked Cersei, just terrible. "I killed Jaime Lannister" such cringe.

And now with only one episode left, we can confirm Tyrion is just a bumbling idiot whose every plan failed since he killed his father. And how pointless was Bronn this season? Did they just want to give the actor payday?

The criticism is widespread. Its not just r/asoiaf and GL GOT thread that is "nitpicking" now. After episode 4 it really felt like majority did not like it and what do you expect after Euron's railguns and invisible fleet. It started after episode 3 and what do you expect after the anticlimax and Sam surviving under those wights which was worse than Glenn crawling under the dumpster in TWD. D&D officially wrote the first rotten episodes in the final stretch of the show. Bravo.

The episode is being absolutely shat on by everyone. Just aired in the UK and people are going mad at how bad it is
