I don't think it's just these two though, i think in general this generation are not held to the same standards.

The way people used to get on Kobe, KG, Dirk, Melo, CP3. They STILL get on LeBron harsher than these guys.

The standard is so low. I think it was Mark Jackson thay just tried to compare "WebEmbiid" to the all time great bigs for having a good game, not playoff run, game.

Even LeBron is held to a lower standard than past guys were tbh.

Prime example was everyone losing their shit crowning him the GOAT after beating up trash East teams for the ten millionth time, it would have been fine if you thought that after they beat Golden State but that isn't what happened.

People are just obsessed now with crowning guys before they actually achieve a level deserving of being of it.

It's all down to one thing....social media.

We never say anything about Magic rolling through the weak west during the 80s 9 times with easily the best team of the decade.

What Magic deserves the praise for imo is that when Kareem clearly wasn't near his prime, the team still didn't drop off (some say they got better).

There's a significant body of work there. Most of these guys don't have anything near that.

I blame the "rangzzz" crowd. Completely diluted it.

I wouldn't blame social media for it.

Another example is the Kawhi stuff, i love Kawhi and he's probably my favourite player to watch tbh.

But some of the stuff i've seen in the media is pretty fucking nuts, people comparing him to Kobe and MJ after one series of scoring like them.

Maybe we let him take Toronto out of the East before we even entertain such nonsense ok?

I'm not a huge Kobe fan, but the way he is being dismissed is disgraceful. This is arguably a top ten player of all tine.

He's been so bad

He's lucky Embiid stuff has happened so nobody is paying attention to his trash performances.

Early on in his career it's very fair to say Simmons is a problem in the playoffs.

This could change at some point, but unless he develops SOME sort of shot or figures something else out, I'm not sure I see it improving.

I hate the comparison people make between him and Giannis at times. Thankfully that's going away. Other than the ridiculous difference between the two in terms of their bodies (which makes them completely different players on its own), Giannis does have some semblance of a shot. He can hit some midranges if given and even hit some threes. More than anything, he tries.

Simmons doesn't even try.

There are undoubtedly some teams and some individuals who can just turn it on in the postseason.

I don't think that goes for all teams though and I truly believed that about this Celtics team. They were mediocre all year long and they were not able to flip the switch.

Glad to kill this and move on.

At this point, a competitive series win or loss is fine with me. I just wanted to see the Bucks continue their stellar play in the postseason and win a couple rounds. What a day though. Feels amazing. Such a likeable group too
