They should postpone it to another day and play it in an empty stadium. Ridiculous.

Argentine minister of security Patricia Bullrich in the pre-match: "We are about to host the G20. You think we won't be able to dominate a simple football match?"
Well how could this have ended any other way...

So am I reading this situation correctly? It seems like Argentina are willing to sacrifice the well being of pro footballers just to show the world (or just the most powerful countries) that they deserve a seat at the geopolitical table.

Hard to tell what the government wants. Clearly it would be embarrassing if it were suspended, but Macri is a former president of Boca and as such one would expect him to want what they want.
It's CONMEBOL's decision at the end of the day. Their doctors say the players are fit to play. But even if that's true I can't imagine they would be mentally ready after just going through that.

530 PM start time here. It's perfect. What a story it would be if Boca win this one

Boca players warming up...
Shit decision by CONMEBOL. If this had been a normal game the fans of the losing team would have rioted anyways. Now if Boca loses they will raze downtown...

Man they don't appreciate the risk she is taking!
According to my brother they're not letting anyone else into the stadium. They paid 500 USD each (huge for argentina) and are livid.

They're not letting people with tickets in anymore? All the while postponing the match for hours?
This is terrible stuff, this is tragic. 500 USD is not huge only for Argentina btw

Yeah apparently the stadium is already full, which is either an excuse or they let in a lot of hooligans without tickets

Did the game get postponed again? BT Sport not showing the game as advertised.

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
I'm getting whatsapp audio forwards from alleged hooligans that say they planned this whole thing because 2 days ago the police seized a few million pesos and tickets for resale. Interesting...
According to some the police contributed because they got a cut from the resale, which would explain why the bus was crossing a curve 10 meters from the hooligans.

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
I have read a few things today about fans not being allowed in stadiums today and police not interested in policing this, the Mother of all Copa Libertadores finals.
What seems to happen in these instances-and dont get me wrong, I get the fury and passion in Argentina, I spent some time in Chile- is that you have these groups of people trying to live up to this reputation and just taking the craziness to that level, cus it is what is expected of them. It is like when I go out for drinks on a Friday night, I may not even feel like drinking, but I have a reputation to uphold and will force glass after glass of drink, just to not lose my reputation.
