Mbappe's pressing is pathetic
Pogba was excellent, Benz did as best he could with the turnover machines around him

He has fewer pressures on the ball than Messi in the last two seasons. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that stat.

Mbappe has been carrying a sprained ankle. He just mentioned post-game that he tweaked it early in the first half (I think it was a tackle by Pedri on his ankle) and he had to pick his spots because he didn't want to leave the game.

PSG don't press at all. Mbappe doesn't defend at all... bad habits he picked up from CR fanboyism lol.

Hopefully that improves because he's going to have to press at RM

It's correct according to rule
Rule is extremely ridicolous though, that should be always off side

Re: UEFA Nations league
The offside goal was so strange, even in todays game there are imperfections with the rules geez? Anyway, Im glad France won, more star power I think the actually played very well in this game. I know Sport (or is it Cas?) saying France are terrible since they r too defensive n just rely on the front players magic, but I thought this game overall they linked very well as a team? The commentator said they been behind by a goal 6 out of the last 7 games, n this game also, so good mentality they have n if they can iron out conceding first they will be favourites as always in the new years to come.
Upemcano with a couple of errors Seems like hes not ready yet still at NT? Benzema god mode, Mbappe proving to be decisive this time, n France proved themselves again after a poor Euros.
As for Spain also good, but not sure about Enrique being a top manager again now? IIRC after Barca most thought he was crap Busquets n Gavi obviously play better for Spain than Barca, but they werent all that? Pogba was the one really bossing the midfield. Also cant help but feel Spain still lack a David Villa level scorer, just overall lack goals a bit which is also their problem.

Hazard was out there the other day telling us he played a good game for Belgium because he didn't need to track back or press. This is the same guy we bought for 100+ mill. We got trulyfleeced by Chelsea. Hopefully Newcastle make him their marque signing

Re: UEFA Nations league
Upamecano is going to be great. Varane had a similar problem when he was very young... he tried to defend with too much finesse and technique even in 1v1 situations.
It's a maturity issue that will be solved. Upamecano just needs to realize the risks involved and sometimes just make the simpler play to avoid situations.
He is extremely good on the ball. Reason our attack suddenly got better was in part because he is much better at getting the ball forward quickly than Varane. Kounde and Upamecano really create some opportunities as CBs.

Re: UEFA Nations league
French higher-ups had to put in the fix because they couldn't afford their team choking on penalties again
Spain was the (moral) winners of that match for me... thoroughly impressed by their nerve and bravado for a mostly young team. They outplayed France for most the game. Some of the passing, first touches and technique on display by the Spanish players were just... wowww. I forgot how beautiful Spanish football could look. I'm happy for this generation of Spanish players, I thought it would be at least a decade until we would see another good Spain NT again. This team coached by the very elite Luis Enrique will surely be in contention in the next two, maybe three world cups and Euros.

Re: UEFA Nations league
Weird take considering nobody did anything other than neutralize each other in the first half and then things opened up in the second half.
Possession does not equal domination. I think that's been proven.... oh one million times in the past decade. It's chance creation. At the end of the game, both France and Spain had 12 shots, with France getting 5 on target and Spain 4. That is really all that matters.
Overall, it was an even game that was decided by better quality scorers on France.

It does and it doesn't. It puts the responsibility on the defender to KNOW he can make the play or risk deflecting the ball... and negating offsides if there is one.
Remember that every new rule is basically slanted towards making the game higher scoring. This is just another one of many putting defenders at a disadvantage.
I don't like that it's so subjective.
But then again, PSG has been a victim of so many nonsense hand ball calls in critical times... a french team was due for one of these nonsense rules to go their way lol.

Re: UEFA Nations league
Yeah I assumed it was introduced only to make games higher scoring. But it's too much of a disadvantage to the defender for me to consider it a sensible rule, rather see fewer goals than have such nonsense, what does it matter if the defender's toe touches the ball?

Should I add that the cause of it was Barca’s García! Actually the first goal was on him too!

not really... Spain played more progressive and exciting football for most of the match, got in behind France's midfield with aggression more often.

Re: UEFA Nations league
Maybe Im biased, or maybe I just used to Spain playing with great technique for too long, but I was more impressed with how France played, linking up so well as a team and the one touch passes throughout the game. A much better France to watch.
The offside rule is definitely weird, but rules r updated all the time n be it fair or not, everyone has to get used to it I guess If it turns out to be bad, they will just update n change it again like a balance tweak update in games

Re: UEFA Nations league
that's fair, our tastes differ from time to time... as for me, the France i watched last night was the same France i've been seeing post-World cup win... They play half-conservative, half-direct football... depending on their talent to win them the game eventually. It's good and effective and it works for them, but i wouldn't call it the most exciting football.

Friendly tournament, nothing more. They gave it a backdoor to Euro's just so they could deny that it's a friendly tournament.
