Real Madrid 2016-2018 best team ever
We have witnessed history, but some people, try to understimate the history that Cristiano Ronaldo, "the bad guy", and Zidane "the lucky one" had done, refuse to talk like it its. Controversies, lucky, not deserving and bla bla.
No other european club side in football history has been so dominant like the current 3 time european cup winners. Proof:
Di Stefanos Real Madrid. Won 5 european cups in a row. Considered the biggest and first european cup legend, was the first superclub. The competition wasnt as strong as nowadays, but still it was, Di Stefanos team dominate but still had some issues outside of the Bernabeu.
First title--- they lost 3-0 in Belgrade in quarter finals, almost threw a 4-0 lead in the first game. IN semifinals they lost against AC Milan in San Siro 2-1, enough to reach the finals where they beat RAymond Kopa and Just Fontaine's Reims after a comeback. 4-3
Second title---they lost 3-1 against Rapid Wien in last 16. They would have been knockout with the current away goal rule. 4-2 in Madrid. AFter that beat manchester united niza and fiorentina to win the title.
Third title---no problem till semifinals, when Budapest number 2 ranked at the time beat them 2-0 away, 4-0 in the bernabeu was enought, beat Milan 3-2 in extra time in the finals.
Fourth title---played atletico madrid in semifinals, they would have been knockout with the current away goal rule. 2-1 bernabeu 1-0 calderon.
Five title---probably their best one, beat Barcelona in semifinals agregate 6-2 and destroyed Frankfurt in the finals 7-3.
So, they won their titles, but its not like they beat 5-0 all rivals all seasons. In spain they won 2 la liga and 1 copa del rey those 5 years.
Cruyff's Ajax---Considered by people as the most influential team of modern football and second legendary squad in footballs history. They won 3 european cups in a row....They didnt dominate the european cup like people usually always say.
First title--- They were beaten in quarters against Celtic 1-0, and they were beaten against Atletico in semifinals 1-0. They comeback at home and won the final against panathinaikos 2-0. (the dutch league was won by Feyenoord that season)
Second Title---they beat Benfica in semifinals 1-0 on agreggate(sounds that dominant?), beat Inter 2-0 in the final with a Cruyff's double.
Third Title---They were beaten in munich in quarter finals and had a lucky day in Madrid in semifinals after a 2-1 win in Amsterdam. Beat Juventus 1-0 in the final.
Beckenbauer's bayern--The giant of German football had their legendary team too.
First title- They tie in minute 93 against Atletico, sending the game to extra time (remember something similar), no penalty shoutout, beat them in the second game.
Second title- They almost get eliminated in the quarter finals against armenian side Ararat Yerevan ?¿?¿?. Won the finals with a lucky goal in counter attack being dominated by Leeds united.
Third title--Lost to malmo in the first round, beat Real Madrid in semifinals and won 1-0 against saint ettiene without a beautiful dominant display of football.
In those 3 years, Borussia monchengladback won 2 german leagues out of 3.
Sacchis' milan--The last legendary european winning and "dominant" squad. Van basten Gullit rijkaard you know. Won 2 european cups in a row, last team to do that till current Real Madrid.
first title---Beat red star belgrade in the first round in the penalty shoutout. Beat werder bremen 1-0 in quarter finals after a controversial goal by bremen which would have been eliminated them. they destroyed 5-0 a declined Butragueno's real madrid in semifinals and thats why they became so overrated. beat Benfica 1-0 in the final.
second title--Lost in the bernabeu and munich, comeback at home by a small margin and ended winning the title.
In those 2 years, they didnt win their own league. Napoli won in 1989 and Inter in 1990.
CR7's Real Madrid. Won 4 european cups in 5 seasons.
first title- beat 0-6 schalke 3-0 dortmund 0-4 guardiola's bayern and scored 4 against atletico in the final
second title- beat rome home and away, beat wolfburg 3-0 in quarters, beat man city in semifinals 1-0, won the final on penaltys.
Third title- beat napoli home and away, beat bayern home and away. dominate atletico 3-0, destroyed juventus scoring 4 on them
fourth title- beat paris, juventus and bayern in their own stadiums, scored 3 on liverpool in the final.
Extra- Pep Guardiolas Barcelona, Ferguson's United, or Lippis' Juventus, never won 3 champions leagues in a row, the first won won 2 in separate years, the second played 2 finals in a row and lost, and the third one played 3 finals in a row and lost.
Conclussion. None of those "incomparable" sides, won their titles absolutely outplaying all rivals.
None of those "superior"sides, won two or three doubles or trebles in a row to be considered superior, neither of them dominate european cup and their own national tournament in the space of 3 years.
In terms of "style" and "domination" noone saw the entire run in one of di stefanos cruyffs or beckenbauers titles.
All of those runs, had controversial decisions by refs which could change the history.
Real Madrid 2016-2018, played in an era with top rivals, top coaches, training material and toughest competition. They didnt won their own league the same of all those teams.
In terms of Style, they have been a team able to play dominant football in midfield with kroos and modric, terrific to play counter attack with bale and ronaldo, dangerous in set pieces with Ramos, physically strong in all lines. Outscore some of the best european giants in the game, play 8 semifinals in a row, and their main man beat all the scoring all time records in the competition.
20 years from now, they will get the recognition some people tries to hide.

Good post.
The fact that Messi was born has helped some mentally ill folk spread certain exaggerated and over-romanticized narratives about football recently, otherwise 2009 Barca for example maybe would have been just another Holland 74, Argentina 02, Bayern 2014(15,16), Man City 2018, etc. Almost happened to Spain 2010 too until Iniesta scored that one counter attack goal against a poor dutch side.

It's funny because all trolling aside, the actual truth is that Bayern Munich's CL's are among the least remembered/esteemed.Hapless_Hans wrote:You won't be able to convince anyone. We are not blind. All you can hope for is that future generations are dumb.

Re: Real Madrid 2016-2018 best team ever
Bayern fan...nobody in the last 10 years had beaten Bayern in their own backyard in a champions league knockout, only this Real Madrid side....three times in a row. 0-4 1-2 1-2. The Champions league is the toughest competition on earth, mostly when you play away. Not a single top european side we watched in the past was able to produce such performances which are underrated now. Pep Guardiola's Barcelona never beat Bayern in the allians arena. In their best run 2009-2011. Tied in Munchen against a poor Bayern side 1-1. Tied against Benfica 0-0, and tied against Chelsea 1-1 in that remembered highway robbery by norwegian ref. In their second title 2011, they lost in the emirated 2-1 after van persie's winner, play shaktar in quarters, their only great win, was against mourinho real madrid 0-2 after a controversial red card to Pepe. They got eliminated after losing 3-1 against inter milan. The combination of madrid 2016 2018 side physically mentally and in world class quality made them number one. What champions league legendary team had like 15 world class players and a guy like Bale coming off the bench?Hapless_Hans wrote:You won't be able to convince anyone. We are not blind. Just watch the games, those teams are remembered because their european cup titles, all this "total football" is BS, football has always being the same. You can watch Bayern 1-0 Ajax or Real Madrid 0-1 Ajax 1972 quarter and semifinals you have the entire game in youtube, that was never a show of dominant football by any means. but somehow Madrid haters cant accept Madrid recent dominance if they dont beat their rivals 5-0 without letting them smell the ball, guardiolas propaganda has infected the world, and the man has never won a champions league title outscoring rivals. What is really playing great? Only Holland and Spain obsesed and boring passing football? HOland and Spain had like 100 years without winnning a world cup. I prefer the Brazilian and Real Madrid style, acummulation of talent and free flowing attacking football

It's ok, not like it's a secret you are a troll.
(Though I have to say that even in a troll thread you should have managed to come up with something better than a return leg which we actually won and that after winning the first leg..... but hey)

Re: Real Madrid 2016-2018 best team ever
Its easy. Before 1996, Bosman Law wasnt the rule of football, so the old football teams couldnt have 11 world class players in the same starting eleven, only 8 players of their own nation and 3 foreign stars. madrid had top 3 players in any position except Benzema, and a world class bench CR7's and Zidane's Real Madrid against Cruyffs Ajax would have been a masacre, they could join mental strenght physical strenght, counter attack possesion and world class talent in all lines. And reach the same glory, 3 european cups in a row. Some Mystical sides of the past are just propaganda well build across generations.zigra wrote:It's ok, not like it's a secret you are a troll.

Shit on a stick football that was almost unwatchable for the neutral fan and they have the nerve to call it 'the best ever', 'the greatest'.
It's disgusting and no one will remember it as a truly great achievement especially since you were shit in other competitions apart from one season, 16/17 I believe, I don't care.

Kings of a knockout tournament yet flopping in your own league. How can you be the greatest when you are finishing third in a league needing a knockout competiton to save your season? Ridiculous.

Who wouldn't like to save "their season" by winning the CL ? Three times in a row actually, three in 3 years. As many as United won in 100. So, you keep trying and trying and trying and keep trying, keep trying.

No matter what you were barcelona's bich in the last 10 years
in head to head matches, in the liga. and even in CL barca kicked your butt
Usual answer is we saved our energy for CL and didnt care about la liga. Why you gave up in la liga? because you are not so strong to compete in all competitions. you competed in 1 tournament, in other hand Barca competed in 3 tournament every year and put all their effort in all of them. If Barca acted like you its not hard to imagine what would happen, but this way is not Barca's way. they have respect for themselves they cant accept to be second to madrid in the la liga and or in copa del rey. But Madrid accepts it (loser mentality). Barca broke their spirit in the last decade
In CL its not in Barca's hand to destroy them. this is where R.Madrid found a safe zone, in this zone Barca cant bully them.
Now tell me how can a victim of barcelona be the greatest team ever?

The thread was in part a counter to the troll thread against Madrid last week or whenever it was, and you peeps bit the bait so it worked.
The rabbit hole one can go down when arguing about this crap is futile due to Agendas, subjectivity, etc. Which is actually something Floren tries to point out in his own way whilst still triggering the lot of you numpties.
Something that is less subjective though:
Real Madrid backs up its well known image of perfection with its particular history, titles, and large fanbase in such a monumental way that no other club can really stack up with. Success attracts bitterness, hatred, and stupidity, and of course, that's where a lot of you come in. Basic psychology.
We will continue winning, and you will continue crying.

I told you and you didnt even read, I grow all my life, listening about Sacchi's AC Milan being the best team of all times. SAcchis AC Milan won 2 champions leagues in a row, and they didnt won their own league at the time. So whats the problem now? Madrid won 3 in a row and 1 domestic league, the same Bayern Munchen did in the 70s.

Zidane retired undefeated in the camp nou as a coach. Beat barcelona twice in the camp nou even with the 10men red card as always, lost twice in the bernabeu with the 10men red card as always, I ve never seen Barcelona beaten Real Madrid in a final in all my life, and I am 30+ years old. Barcelona has beaten Madrid in some la liga non meaningful matches with refering scandals, in a man to man contest they have always been a weak team level Arsenal, even in their best decade ever, just they dont have the mentality

Eh, Benzema was easily a top 3 in his position beore his goalscoring form started to decline back in 2016-17 season when Zidane changed his role due to Crisitiano's transition into becoming a striker. Having that said, the Frenchman contributed 25 goals and 10 assists in 50 games when Real Madrid have accomplished 4 UCL-titles in 5 years and had many great individual performancs (Liverpool, Bayern, Juventus, Atletico, Sporting CP etc). Benzema is severely underrated for RM's CL-dynasty.
