Nobody knows what he did. Maybe he tugged the guys hair, maybe he spat in his face, maybe he called his mother a whore. Only the guy behind the goal knows. We will find out somehow after the game/tomorrow.

It's not like he did what he did mistakenly in a duel, Ronaldo clearly meant to do that and you can see his regret a second later. Still it needs to be punished, so I applaud the referee for doing his job right even if most referees would ignore that because it was Ronaldo.

Straight red IMHO, the "joga bonito" way of biting, hairpulling, scratching, and mother-insulting has to be stopped.
