According to Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin we attempted to sign Mariano back earlier this summer and Lyon wanted 70 mil lmao. But then they agreed 35 mil with Sevilla so we used our option to step right in. Result we are paying 22-25 mil.

FWIW Sevilla are now turning their attention to Portu from Girona, so they are looking for another attacker. And they did get the money from N'Zonzi's transfer which they haven't spent yet since his replacement, Gonalons, came in on a loan.

I did have my doubts about their interest in Mariano, though. Ben Yedder and Muriel are still there and they signed Andre Silva. They're playing one up front this season so a fourth forward didn't seem necessary. Portu makes much more sense since he's an AM/WF.

Besides Portu, Quincy Promes will also sign for Sevilla tomorrow. Apparently they will also add another CB from Rennes, Remmy Bensebaini, tomorrow before the deadline. They also create a brand new squad every year lol

Promes is at the game tonight, so that one seems done. Portu seems like overkill at this point but meh, anyone's better than Nolito tbh.

The Bensebaini bid was rejected apparently. Seems they're looking for a Pareja replacement (and Carrico is injury prone, so it makes some sense).

Marca reports that apparently the talks between Promes and Sevilla are broken down due to failure to agree on personal terms. Promes canceled his private flight to Seville.

The fee agreed was reported to be only 20 mill. Could be a great value-buy for many teams and I bet Promes has been handed a better deal from a club that either offers higher wages or plays in CL. Could turn out to be a very good deal even if attacking players from the Russian league usually turn out to be scrubs.

My guesses are Milan, Roma, Lyon or Dortmund. Could be horribly wrong though.

He really should go on loan, but I don't think it is going to happen. Vinicius is the one who stated (basically above anything) he wants to train with the first team even if that means playing matches with Castilla for the time being.

Given RM really only have 1 natural fit to that LW in Asensio, I think he will get playing time eventually.

Yeah Lopetegui did not banish him away to Castilla, sadly people don't understand that. Lopetegui said he won't be playing every weekend with the first team so it's in his interest to play with Castilla to continue getting game rep those games he won't play with the first team.

At least that's how I understood it.

So RM signed a 40M dollar player with a Castilla contract? Because if he has a first team contract then he wouldn't be allowed to play with the 2nd team.

Smart move obviously by them but still..that's allot of money to get a player to play in the third division. Surely loaning him out to play with a first division team regularly this season will be better for him than playing against the likes of Union Adarve and Unionistas week in and out, hoping to get randomly called up to the first team for games in the Copa matches.

Also can't help but feel like Sevilla could of done without Portu and instead should of went out for another CM/CDM type. That guy they signed from Roma to replace Nzonzi ain't gonna cut it. Just seems like they are lacking depth right now in that area (not that it matters much but Ganso is confirmed out, I think he is head to France last I read)

Another CM wouldn't go amiss but they have Gonalons and Amadou to cover N'Zonzi and Mesa to cover Banega. And with Promes in I can see Vazquez playing more games in midfield if needed.

At the moment it doesn't seem like Portu is happening.
