Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
You realise most of us are joking and not being serious?
I know most countries are dense and don't understand the concept of sarcasm but surely it's not that bad?
No one in England truly believes that.

Mole Owen disagrees, claims entire country believes England will win
We’ve scraped past Tunisia in the last minute, beaten a pub team and got beat by the only decent team we’ve faced. Yet the country is convinced we can win The World Cup! And for some reason I’m starting to believe it could just happen too #ComeOnEngland

Using Michael Owen is incredibly disgraceful and disrespectful tbh.
I demand you apologise for using the scum of the earth as an argument.

I think there has been a serious element of seriousness that developed from the "football is coming home" stuff. It started off as banter, I would agree but I think a lot of England got hit with the Hope Springs Eternal flu. That also includes Mole.

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
It started to happen when people realised we'd be in the "easier" half of the draw by finishing second in the group.
Before the tournament everyone thought that getting out the group would be good because we couldn't realistically get past Brazil or Germany.
Then Germany go out and we end up in a draw with Colombia, Switzerland, Sweden, etc. where Spain and maybe Croatia were the only really scary teams. Then even Spain gets dumped out.
All of a sudden, we're left with teams who are just as good as we are but are beatable. Naturally, expectations are going to adjust after that. Suddenly, we can get to a semi or even a final. By which point, you have every chance of winning the damn thing, luck allowing.
Personally, I believe thinking that far ahead displays a tremendous amount of hubris. It's presumptuous to think we're going to get that far just because we beat Tunisia and Panama. Everyone in this half of the bracket is thinking the exact same thing.

Nah lol it's still banter, we like everyone in this half of the draw see the route and think it's possible we can do well but we don't expect it at all.
But any country in this half of the draw saying otherwise is a liar IMO.

England team apparently:
Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Lingard, Henderson, Alli, Young; Sterling, Kane
About what I'd expect. Maybe Lofuts-Cheek could have kept his place.

As it should be, Rose, Rashford and others had their chance and they weren't good enough.

Fantastic to read this word by an English
For me England is just a decent NT but if you have Harry Kane you are legimitated to believe to go on . He is exactly what England missed for years

I meant from the understanding dry humor and sarcasm tbh.
You see American comedians all the time say how far they are behind in that regard.
Hell i see it all the time on here, people literally don't know sarcasm when they see it.

Seriously, one of most appreciated things by me about English ppl is their sarcasm . Not surprised about The Coming home narrative . It's coming really though

Not even on the bench? Is there a falling out or something? Because, regardless of what we all feel about James, he's definitely good enough to be at least on the bench of Columbia.
