I messed up on NG+ so had to do NG++ as well lol.
Well worth it in the end.
I wonder if we'll see DLC announcements in E3.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
You really should finish it. Specially since the last few bosses fights are fantastic and maybe the best in the game. They are quite hard though initially but you'll figure them out. In NG++ i ended up dying once the entire game (to vilehands) because i knew exactly what to do.
Overall I don't think it's better than any of the Dark Souls games nor Bloodborne but it's still a phenomenal attempt. It felt a lot like their fun project to get away from Soulsborne games. Felt incomplete though at times and there are not many enemy variety. This might be Demons Soul before Dark Souls 1 if they do make Sekiro 2.
8.8/10 overall i think

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Finally playing this. Defeated four minibosses. I'm confused on how to progress it though. There's Ashina Outskirts and Hirata Estate. Is Hirata Estate optional? I'm doing that after getting stumped by the Headless miniboss in Ashina.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Well it's not optional optional but it is optional. There are 4 endings and one of them will require you to complete Hirata. It's like one of those memories in DS2.
Most of the game is open for you atm. You can go anywhere you like. Some will be locked at some point due to story related.
Also ignore the headless for now. You need certain items for it.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Finished it.
Wish I recorded the final boss fight. It was epic, use up all my gourds+pellets+rice and he still had half health left. Then did the comeback with lightning deflection like Trent Alexander Arnold's quick corner
Debating whether I should go for the Platinum or not. Doing a second playthrough and going all the way to Fountainhead Palace again for Lapis Lazuli is whats turning me off. Have a save file loaded before Owl so I can get the Shura ending any time I want.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
soundtrack in fountainhead palace is terrible. Had to plug in spotify after the 1st playthrough.
But you can rush the area if you want. It's easy to do so.

It's a very good game but for me it's worse than all Souls games and not even close to Bloodborne, still probably end up my GOTY though
This is my review of the game too.
Did you two also find it way easier than Souls/Bloodborne? Once you figure out a strategy to a boss, its easy peasy. Far more so than any previous FromSoft game. The last three bosses (Prime Owl, Demon, Ishiin Sword Saint) are the only ones that really gave me trouble. Maybe not even prime Owl because I fought him with Demons Bell on without realizing There were no areas I dreaded like Upper Cathedral Ward or Blighttown, normal enemies were pretty easy and its very easy to stealth one hit 50% of the enemies you meet.
Being easier isn't what puts it down for me. A lot of minibosses and even bosses (in the case of the apes) were recycled and the ending portion of the game also recycles areas. I remember being very impressed on how From made a new IP just three years after Dark Souls 3 and now I realize how they did it. The game from beginning to Ashina Depths was fantastic for me,hands down GOTY but it went down a notch when you come back to Ashina and recycled environments and minibosses.
Maybe I'm looking back at it with rose tinted glasses but I feel Bloodborne was From's magnum opus. Outstanding game, my top 5 of this gen. Looking back at the vids and seeing how hard it was shees, I completely forgot about Stamina being limited in previous games. Unlimited stamina and infinite sprint really made Sekiro easier.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Yea it's easier than the other soulsborne games. But I still found it hard with some of the bosses. The trick is patience which i have none. It didn't have many dreaded areas but i don't think it was supposed to. They tried to make this different so it's not fair to include it in the same game types as soulsborne.
I hope they make Sekiro 2 but i doubt they will. There won't be a DLC for this one which tells you they are fully concentrated on elden ring.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
I started this died like 10 times by the first general mini boss in Ashina Outskirts but beat the chained Ogre within 3 tries.

I fluked that battle. My first encounter I ran from him and I saw he reset and he looked at a specific direction. I got behind him and took one of his bar after 2 deaths I figured out his moves and combo and finished him off. The same with the general after him I accidentally equipped my flame thrower and used and it and saw him get stunned and he stopped his attack in the middle of it and I beat him in my second attempt by spamming flame thrower lol
Never the less my dodging/side stepping, parrying is poor and has been my biggest down fall. I'm on the first big boss the guy on the horse.

Just beat Gyoubu Oniwa wasn't too bad he suits my style a little more since it was one of those up front and close combat.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Nearing end of game.
Have been on and off the game hence why it seems it's taken long the start was overwhelming but now it's better and I'm more confident.
Wont be able to do all ending I'll choose one and after that do probably Dgura since it shouldn't take long.
