Milan losing their way into another 'supercup' lol..what a joke. Eagerly monitoring Inter's mercato tbh, if it's looking decent I'll watch them next season and cheer them on in Serie A.

Pippo's Venezia playing Palermo atm. They are in contention to secure a promotion spot in Serie A next season.

Some context on Venezia FC. Yet to watch it btw.

About the third promotion spot, it's decided by a mini-tournament with 4 teams from Serie B.

VENEZIA vs PALERMO
CITTADELLA vs FROSINONE

Final is played June 13th-16th.

TeleLombardia claim that Genoa patron Enrico Preziosi is ready to buy up 20 per cent of Milan before becoming majority shareholder.

The club needs new investors after UEFA refused a settlement agreement and could still exclude the club from the Europa League.

Yonghong Li needs to pay back the loan to Elliott Management in October, which with interest is €380m.

According to TeleLombardia, Genoa President Preziosi is prepared to pay €150m to buy up 20 per cent of the Milan shares.

Over the course of two years, he would spend a total of €330m to buy 51 per cent of the club.

If he were to do this, Preziosi would need to sell Genoa, as he cannot own two clubs in the same division.

He has been the subject of protests from the Grifone ultras, who maintain he sells all their best players.

Preziosi is a controversial figure who started his own business and turned it into an empire.

He has been in football since 1993, involved with Saronno, Como and from 2003 Genoa.

Genoa were relegated to Serie C1 in 2005 due to a match-fixing scandal.

Preziosi has regularly done business with Milan over the years, exchanging numerous players on loan, and has a close rapport with ex-Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani.

So the league has published a report detailing knowledge gained from a year of using VAR.

Big takeaways:

- Mistakes decreased from 5.78% to 0.89%.
- VAR intervened once every 3.39 games.
- Red cards for complaints decreased significantly with only 1 given out this year vs. 11 last year.

The league considers it a success and I would have to agree, especially given the decrease in mistakes made.

Would like to see Palermo back in Serie A.

Tons of legit talents over the late 2000s/2010s in Zamp's Palermo. Cavani and Dybala were the biggest but plenty made it to good and top teams.

iirc

Barzagli, Sirigu, Cavani, Balzaretti, Dybala, Pastore, Glik, Ilicic, Belotti, Vazquez, Darmian, etc.

None of them turned into world class players which was my point. I was mostly talking about their young hyped talents that Zamp was overrating week in week out

Ilicic, Kjaer, Sirigu, Abel Hernandez, Pastore, Cavani etc Essentially the talent pool of Palermo's team in their 'prime' (2009-11)

Only Cavani turned out to be a world class player out of that team

pippo to bologna? wow

Has anyone read about the entire reason that American owner went to Venezia was because he was basically forced out of Bologna by Saputo and Co. iirc the American said he would only leave in a coffin and yet 9 months later was funding a new project.

Now they take his prize coach

Nice to see the mafia links going strong lol

Nine people involved in the construction of Roma’s new stadium have been arrested for alleged acts of corruption.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports the arrests have come as part of a criminal investigation by the Public Prosecutors’ Office in Rome.

Among those detained are stadium contractor Luca Parnasi, Vice-President of Lazio Regional Council Adriano Palozzi and Luca Lanzalone, President of energy and water supply company Acea.

It comes just a day after mayor Virginia Raggi tweeted the stadium, tentatively named Stadio della Roma and which is due to be built over the former Tor di Valle racecourse, was getting ‘closer and closer’.

Post by S Wed Jun 13, 2018 8:17 pm

Roma President James Pallotta released a statement assuring they “are not expecting any substantial delays” to the Stadio della Roma project even after nine arrests.

This morning, nine people were detained “in connection with an investigation into aspects of the Tor di Valle project,” including contractor Luca Parnasi, but none of them are current Roma employees.

“AS Roma president Jim Pallotta is confident the Stadio della Roma project will move forward without issue, despite events on Wednesday morning,” read a statement.

“We’re saddened and dismayed by today’s allegations and arrests. As the prosecutor categorically stated earlier, AS Roma has nothing to do with this.

“Also, contrary to what was reported in some places, the arrests do not involve the stadium contractor for Stadio della Roma and are actually nothing to do with the construction of the stadium or the entertainment complex.

“Now we fully expect to move forward with the project and we are not expecting any substantial delays.”

However, the Codacons – a consumer protection agency – called for the immediate suspension of the project.

Prosecutor Paolo Ielo confirmed in a Press conference that “Roma have nothing to do with it, the systematic corruption continues within and around the Parnasi group.

“The charges are associating to commit a crime, traffic of influence, corruption and illicit financing. There is money circulating and non-existent billing. There is a new type of bribe: hiring family members or friends.

“(Former assessor and regional councillor) Michele Civita was promised that his son would be hired by the Parnasi group, in one of Palozzi’s businesses.”
