I get that he signed a contract and Spurs might not want him to go but managers contract are not alike players right? Because I feel like Spurs have no way of stopping him from leaving at the end of the day
He can quit Spurs and forego his compensation but he would be contractually bound to Tottenham for the duration of his contract, unless they release him from it by mutual consent
It's like a player can retire despite having a contract for 2 more years but they cannot then turn around and sign for another club the next day as to use it as a loophole
Spurs have no way of stopping him from leaving but they have a contract that would effectively stop him from signing for Real, for which I'm sure UEFA would uphold and Poch would be sued into oblivion, maybe even lose his coaching license if he decided to try this route

Madrid won't hire any manager that hasn't won at least a league and won or come close in the CL unless it is an internal promotion.

Re: Real Madrid Next manager
there is a reason why contracts are signed. if you want to break out of the contract then there has to be something to pay, irrespective of whether you are a coach or player. these contracts are signed to protect both the coach and the club. btw there have been times when th buying club pays out said penalty and there are agreements behind the scenes for such situations. but yes you can't just break a contract just because you're not a player, that's not how life works. someone will be expected to pay the release in such scenario

Re: Real Madrid Next manager
After we win this World Cup, I’m ok with Lopetequi being released from his NT contract. He will be great, plus we will find Isco and Asensio and perhaps Ceballos (if that deal can be broken) will have proper roles and importance.
Hell, he likely will help us get DeGea, Odriozola and Azpili, maybe Marcos Alonso as well!

Tottenham will demand £42.5m in compensation if Real Madrid try to appoint Mauricio Pochettino to succeed Zinedine Zidane. (Source: The Times)

For some reason I feel it's going to be either Poch or Rafa.

I can't see it being Rafa but I admit to being sadistic enough that I want to see the little light left in Mole's eyes disperse as Rafa leaves for Madrid and Curbishley, Warnock or Joey Barton get appointed as Newcastle manager.

Re: Real Madrid Next manager
Why would they want Rafa when he already was sacked from there lol.
Not a chance in hell, there's a much higher chance of Madrid getting Pochettino and Spurs going for Rafa.

It's as Luca says.
It happened for example with Tuchel at Mainz. Tuchel unilaterally, and surprisingly quit his job as Mainz coach in 2014 at the end of the 13/14 season, while he still had a year contract.
Mainz was fuming and they had a legal dispute, which ended with Tuchel taking a year off (unpaid), while any new club that would want to sign him during that year would have had to agree with Mainz on a 'transfer' fee, as he was still contractually bound to Mainz.
You're not getting Poch that easy Nick

As long it isn't Allegri or Conte, would literally rather Wenger or Big Sam than those two. Poch is the most ideal but I really hope we take a serious gamble and go for Sarri. The banter and the football would be lovely.

Sarri > Poch
Agree with RG's earlier comments, no idea where the Poch wankfest came from, he is a Mourinho without the trophies
literally your worst nightmare

My worst nightmare is actually rehiring Mourinho. Poch is a fresh new evil I know nothing about at Madrid. I also wanna see if BC would still defend Poch whilst being a Madrid manager.

Don't get the Mourinho comparisons tbh.
Poch Spurs press a lot, which Mourinho teams pretty much never have. But he is very defensive he just defends in a very different way.
Mourinho comparison to me is very lazy.

my dude im not in love with Pochettino whatsoever.Hapless_Hans wrote:

I actually love the work Lopetegui is doing with Spain, i would gladly take that in Madrid. I want a greater expression f attacking football in madrid, a coach that leverages our attacking players talent more more purpose than Zidane, and even if his resume has holes, Lopetegui is one of a rare kind in style and ideas in my opinion.
Sarri is also a guy that i love but im just afraid he would be the type to butt heads with our players.

Rafa??? After he was fired in six months in his last stint. I am perhaps yet to see a few things but if this happens I'll feel like I have seen nothing all these days.

Both Conte and Allegri have way too much heart necessary to manage the most soulless club of all time
