It's so good. Off the charts suspense thriller. 3rd episode is airing tomorrow. The first two episodes are giving me True Detective season 1 vibes with suspense cranked up to 100.
It's based on a Stephen King book so expect craziness and a lot of spoilers out there if you decide to watch. I absolutely recommend it.

Dudes season finale is this week, this is absolutely up your alley if you're into suspense and mysteries. The first few episodes are incredible, it kind of slows down in the middle but episode 9 was great. Looks like it's gonna be one hell of a finale.
It was originally supposed to be a miniseries but they're already talking about making season 2. Probably following another Stephen King book.

We’re so psyched to be teaming up with @HBO to create a new The Last of Us series with @Neil_Druckmann and @clmazin at the helm: https://t.co/AzjxMdjTbQ pic.twitter.com/6gFjdXtiMw

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
you weren't kidding about the Outsider, I think the performances have been strong but it's fucking boring, I'm finishing it off tonight but it all started off so promising in the first 2 episodes but has sucked since. Feels like it could have been 4 episodes.

Well this is exciting! Beyond lending his incredible musical talent to The Last of Us Part II, Gustavo Santaolalla is joining us to bring over The Last of Us to HBO!

Yes, I appreciated it very much and in fact I've finished it soon.
And I'm usually "lazy" about serie tv, a bit reluctant, I get bored easily ( for example I believe to be one of few ppl to have let gone Mindhunter after few episodes) but it's not happened now.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
So I went on wikipedia to take a look at the episode synopses of the previous season to refresh my memory of what happened
Turns out, I read these episodes and I swear I have NO IDEA whether I saw them or not
I'm pretty sure I watched season 7 but I can't for the life of me remember what happened and I don't RECOGNIZE the plot even when reading it back ffs
Guess that's what happens when you have a series where 7 seasons in a row, it somehow ends with the white walkers marching around mencingly on the exact same spot they marched a year earlier
I must have watched it and then it just vanished from my brain
so now I guess I have 2 more season of this noonsense t watch

Halfway through season 2, the most interesting character so far is Rollo. The prince Bjorn began cracking skulls in last episode, i suppose this will be the norm from now on.

Narcos is probably the only show that didn't suffer much after losing its main character.

For shock value or because it's literally a historical person?

The show isn't as historically accurate as you might want to believe, they took lots of liberty with events and characters, they might as well done the same to Ragnar who was essentially a legendary character rather than a historical person.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
As for characters themselves i find the supporting cast more interesting. Rollo seems the most complex psychology so far. Lagerta and Bjorn can also develop into a good sub-plot if authors don't fall into clichés.
And yes according to some critics i've read the series is not historically accurate, on many aspects it is based on the popular perception of the vikings. Ragnar dies in season 4 if i spoilt myself correctly, at some point it becomes appropriate to follow another main character, i suppose Bjorn or Rollo.

I know. I've read most of that stuff as it's on the curriculum in Denmark, as he's a Danish king. There's not a lot of things known about the legend, and about the historical person. But the few things that are believed to be historical can't change for a show that is to be shown on "The History Channel". All the grey areas in between are fair to be creative with.
Anyways the main point was for me to say that you can't really argue that something that's historical (him dying early) is a narrative point to shock viewers when it's one of the few things about the historical figure known to be true.
I see it kind of like Jesus. You can't make a story about Jesus and then not show a crucifixion. But in his lost years it's fair to be creative and give your artistic interpretation of what might've happened. Unless you make it clear from the start you're trying to make an alternate history telling of the story.
____
Disclaimer: I use the word 'historical'. What I mean by that in this context is what followers of the certain faith at the time believe to have been historical. I myself have a hard time believing in either the Sagas or the Bible's events actually happened. The persons involved though, I do believe.

Might watch for Marco Ilsø and Alex Høgh. Worked post-prod on a short film they did and they're incredible. Really think they're legit. Especially Alex.
