Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Chernobyl is great. Its meticulously crafted and very emotional. The acting, soundtrack, writing, directing and cinematography is all very good. It certainly is one of the best miniseries I've seen but its not close to Band Of Brothers for me personally. This is one strange show to get upvoted to shit at IMDB. Its not the type of show that attracts dedicated fanbases or cult following, its really strange it got rated this high at IMDB. Maybe it was to balance out GOT
I thought Sharp Objects would have Emmys on a lock but in the space of a year we also got When They See Us and Chernobyl. Bravo. Always love watching one off miniseries, especially in this recent age where season gaps are close to two years for most shows.

First 3 seasons of Lost are amazing. Mindblowing television, even.
Season 4 is really really good and the pace really picks up.
And then season 5 and 6, it slowly starts to transition into an area where even the writers had no idea what they were doing. It's unfortunate how the ending ruined the whole series for a lot of people because otherwise Lost had amazing moments of television.

Enjoy it man. Just remember it's about the journey and not the ending.

Quite honestly, it's downhill after Season 1. A long, ever increasing slide downhill with a few pretty great highlights scattered over seasons 2, 3, 4
Story is still full of suspense and surprises, but the 22 episode full season formats leads to so much time wasting, starting in season 2.

for real I felt that for season 2, but I think in season 3 to 4 the pace picks up a bit, especially 4 and you kind of get used to the drawn out arcs by then.

Yes you are right, dramatically, season 2 is struggling the most to fill the air, but seasons 3 and 4 the promise and mystery of the narrative starts to fall apart slowly

Anyone else liked The Pacific more than Band of Brothers? I felt The Pacific gave an experience like no other when it came to war movies and series. It was hell on earth, shows the brutality of war like i have never seen before.

If you want to watch a good high school drama, watch skins. Unless you already have. Possibly one of the greatest shows ever made (season 1-3 anyways). Nearly every actor on that show went on to do great things in hollywood lol.

I love Skins. I binge watched the first three or four seasons together with my ex, and we were both completely addicted to it. I definitely recommend the show to anyone. I remember reading that they made an American adaptation of the show, but I'm guessing it didn't do well, because I haven't heard anything about it since then

I wish there were more seasons with the first generation but all of their arcs were completed so it made sense for them to not show up again.
2nd generation was okay but after that it was a disaster imo

So I am on Season 2 episode 15
I can see what you guys meant about season 2 being slower. It is quite apparent. However I think it would have been worse for me if i was watching it weekly rather than binging. It's not as bad if you binge watch.
One thing which is annoying is how they just create the backstory to fit in and connect the modern situation. I had this problem with Arrow (far worse there though) and it's the same here. Some are enjoyable to watch but i really can't stand Charlie's backstory or Claire's.
Also Jin and sun best couple by FAR. Best backstory and a natural chemistry between the two characters.
Jack is a shit leader. But then he doesn't want to lead ("He dun want it"). Makes me miss prime Rick tbh.
Also i must say, event hough this show came in 2004, it did far more for diversity and strong female characters than most of today's show despite how strong the movement is in 2019 than it was in 2004 (barely any social media). Quite impressed tbh.

Dark is amazing. Mysteries with actual satisfying explanations that make sense, much superior to Lost. If it was English language it would have been much more massive.

Stranger things is not overrated imo, the show has a great premise, the visuals are outstanding, the writing/characters are top notch, the story holds up well. Can't pinpoint any actual flaws.
