Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
if Dexter didnt have a shit ending it'd probably be my fav show of the last decade
I haven't seen the third season of Hannibal but the first 2 are absolutely maginificent. It's up there with all the other great TV series.
I think I will re-watch Justified soon too, just because Walton Goggins is in it. Best actor I've seen, ever
Also Sons of Anarchy... fvck, there's so many great shows I should re-watch

Caught up on Counterpart. Quite good.
JK Simmons pushing for that Emmy. And he just might be a contender.

Peaky Blinders is absolutely brilliant. Everything about it is great. Even if it was shite, I'd watch it for the accents

I loved Dexter, but I read that the view count took a substantial dive towards the last few episodes, and that's probably what caused them to wrap it all up in such a dissatisfying way. The black cop remains one of my favorite side characters in a TV show, along with Ari Gold from Entourage, among others. Emanuelle Chriqui is insanely hot, by the way. Was just reminded of her when I googled Entourage characters

The Terror - amazing, gorgeous, stunning pilot with a menacingly slow pace.
Beautiful electronic music from a Berlin based composer who sadly has died recently.
Hope it stays slow, and vague, like that.

someone will have to explain the day 1 expression to me, though I assume it expresses something like extreme disapproval and non-interest
Yeah I see where you coming from but I hope it will be more of a historic tale about the smug end of the age of discovery
I loved the pilot though I admit that maybe it will not be interesting in the long run

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
you can use it ironically to mean kinda what you said but it's generally used to show that you will be there as soon as it's available to you and that you're completely sold by what little you've seen/heard
RG is hyped for it

Yes
It's my type of show.
Will watch it if it comes on sky. Apparently exclusive to BT tv customers

Low key second episode. Good, not spectacular. Meanwhile, I've spent several hours of wikipedia getting to know all about Arctic exploration and the quest for the Northwest Passage. Hard to know what the heck is going on there without context.

Spaced by Edgar Wright is an incredible sitcom. Season 2 especially.

Spaced is a classic. It's a shame Brit series stop after 2 or 3 seasons, so much potential lost.

3rd season of The Magicians was some of the best TV I've watched this year so far. What a show.

That's great to hear. I watched the first season and loved it, haven't continued so far but will.

I have not read the books so this show was initially hard to get into and I had to make a conscious effort not to compare it to Harry Potter, but the show is self-aware enough to know that's where most minds go and it has so much fun with it. Very smartly written. You'll enjoy the next couple of seasons for sure.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I don't know the books either. Stumbled over the show, had no expectations and thus was positively surprised.
I actually thought it funny because it reminded me of some dark adult Harry Potter lmao.
I also found it a better, more conscious and interesting variation on themes that Mr Robot deals with, with magic instead of hacking (what else is hacking in movies/series if not magic?.. "here let me hack into the xy database real fast.. click..click..")
And you're right- it's interesting because it is conscious both about its connotations and about its subtexts.

Caught up on Atlanta.
While superb, this show infuriates me and reminds me that though I may be black, I'm completely disconnected with a lot of the culture that defines my ethnicity. A lot of it is just straight up alien to me. This show does such a great job of perfectly capturing that.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
FOX just cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Last Man on Earth and The Mick. Didn't watch any of them, but I hear all 3 were quite solid IIRC, especially B99. Very surprising that one got the axe too.
FOX reminding everyone why they are one of the most hated networks out there.
Also the Lethal Weapon reboot is on the bubble too as the show fired Clayne Crawford, who played Riggs. They're going to try and re-cast the role, but if it doesn't happen by June 30th, the show will likely be cancelled as well. Unfortunate imo as I actually liked this show quite a bit.
