Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Screw that, why didn’t we sign one regardless of Nelson did?

Hoffenheim have signed @ReissNelson9 on loan from @Arsenal until 30 June 2019! #WelcomeReiss pic.twitter.com/1KohMqLbni

So that's Maitland-Niles, Willock, Nketiah, Smith-Rowe and now Nelson signed up to new deals. Very clear that this is our new "English core". Also something of an accomplishment since a lot of young English players have left the big clubs for more playing time in recent years. Shows that our best talents still think they can get into the first team here.
If he gets 20-30 games all season, including some games in the Champions League, that'll be great.

I just wish we prepared for this better, we literally have no natural winger in our team. Zero.

I also hope we sign Sancho before his value goes really high.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Buying these English kids is a good strategy for Bundesliga clubs. When the PL teams need more home grown players and come knocking they can demand huge fees.
But yeah, dreaming of that Sancho-Smith Rowe-Nelson-Nketiah attack tbh.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Lobotka wrote:One of the novelties of this season with respect to the past is the position of Stanislav Lobotka. When he arrived at Celta he did it with the duality of being able to act as an interior or as a midfielder. In the celestial team began acting as an interior, but soon delayed his position, since Juan Carlos Unzué liked more what he contributed to the team in the midfield position, and also understood that the interiors were more reliable than their rivals for the post of pivot.
For the Navarran coach he was an essential player throughout the course. In fact, he was the only one who played all 38 games, becoming also the second player best valued by our readers, after Iago Aspas.
This season is still one of the favorites of the fans for his game, but he does it in a more advanced position, by the presence of Fran Beltrán, who acts as pivot: "The coach has put me ahead, I do not help too much in the construction of the game. It is something new and I accept it. The classification shows that it has benefited us, "he told the Slovak press.

Too short for Emery though
Milenkovic and Mavropanos as full backs too fix it

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/09/jadon-sancho-england-borussia-dortmund
- Spoiler:
- Micciche, a former MK Dons manager, coached Sancho at under‑15 and under-16 level for England and has no doubt about his potential. “Provided he doesn’t become restricted he could be our Neymar-type player – in terms of being unpredictable, playing on that left-hand side,” Micciche says. “And he’s flamboyant, entertaining to watch. But like Neymar he’s effective with it. In most games he’ll create something – it’s not a beauty contest. He’s not on the pitch flicking it over someone’s head for the sake of it.”

Sancho’s progress is marked by his having been in the shake-up for Gareth Southgate’s England squad this month. He was selected instead for Paul Simpson’s under-19s, playing in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over the Netherlands, and is in line to face Belgium on Monday. Micciche points to how the player’s talent has been carefully developed.
“Jadon did a lot of his learning on the street through informal play,” he says of the London-born Sancho, who joined Watford as a boy. “People think academies produce these players – they don’t. They do a lot of things – they support, develop, nurture. But they inherit 90%, 95% of the player, even when they join at nine. It’s about the other five, 10% – that can be crucial, as the player is either completed or the 90 shattered.
“The analogy I use is ‘bricks in the wall’. If 10 bricks are needed to make the structure and the player is the wall, when they come to you several bricks are in place and it’s about filling in the missing ones. With Jadon, if one of his bricks is creativity and you tell him he can only play one- or two-touch you take that brick away.
“What he brings to the table are ball skills – being able to play out of tight areas in a way where he can beat a player rather than having to pass it and he can do that a variety of ways. He can run with the ball at speed and go both sides.
“Even though he’s right-footed, when he’s dribbling at people on that left side he can actually go inside or outside and that makes him very difficult to defend against.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Latest is that he's very keen on Cristian Pavon. We have interest in him last season at various points, so this isn't too surprising. A creative winger who seems to play mostly on the right, with a high ceiling and an affordable release clause... don't know why we'd sign him tbh.

Arsenal are checking on Rennes’ 20-year-old winger Ismaila Sarr, who has been valued in the £20m bracket by the French side, although face competition from Inter Milan for the player. [Mirror] #afc pic.twitter.com/ZB2bWEJ2Bz

Sarr would cost 30m+ considering Rennes paid 20m for him lol. Would love him though.

A new + improved 4yr contract was recently agreed between Arsenal & Aaron Ramsey. But #AFC withdrew offer, are now not in a position to proceed. Most likely he’ll leave for free next summer, unless the perfect opportunity for both parties arises in January https://t.co/5EXUoIsZx2

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ozil's new deal was significant in more ways than one. It raised the ceiling on what an important player at Arsenal could earn. Ramsey will feel he has every right to ask for a big fat salary given he won Player of the Season last year and has scored two cup final winning goals. It's the price Arsenal pays for neglecting to extend his contract earlier.
Since we didn't, we had to decide if he was worth it or not. And evidently we've decided he isn't. I wonder how much Gazidis' departure has influenced our decision to withdraw our offer. Maybe he was the one really pushing for an extension and Sanllehi/Mislintat weren't so keen. The investment it'd take to keep Ramsey could make it difficult to strengthen other positions, after all (that £200k+ p/w can go to two new signings). Perhaps even Emery decided in the end that Ramsey wasn't that important to his plans than he thought he'd be.
It's sad since he's been at Arsenal for 10 years, had that amazing 13/14 season and won us two cup finals. He's accomplished a lot more than Wilshere did.
But it's also a chance to rebalance the squad. Ramsey is a unique player and there aren't many midfielders like him around, but he's not irreplaceable.
