I think this is the year an underdog wins the WC. I mean just look at the big teams who aren't in it anymore: Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Germany and many more to come
Stage is set for an all Scandinavian final imo @Freeza

France will win and they're hardly an underdog

We are past that now, we are now Croatians, or in some cases English or even French!
Down to the the last eight and some will say one side of the draw is loaded with scrubs, that may be true, but I like the idea of someone new winning it. Since 1966 only 7 countries have played in the final of a World Cup, so with only two of those teams remaining, the odds are good- statistically speaking- that we get a new team winning or at least the team that won in 66.
Looking at the four games this round and going by the odds posted by Bwin on the kicker site, your safest bet would be to pick England over Sweden. I think England will win somehow, but I gotta assume the Swedes feel pretty good about playing England, so as someone mentioned, this could be a dull 0-0 going to penals.
As a Croatian, constantly drunk on that horrib...I mean wonderful Slivovitz, I have to pick them to win (though I dont trust the shady goings ons that the Russians will resort to) but not wanting to bet and lose anymore houses, I think I will take France outright, they got too many options up front for the others to deal with, but I wouldn't bet a really nice house on them either.
Looking forward to Friday games, meanwhile will be drinking that horrib...errr wonderful stuff on Saturday with my fellow Croats. It has been friggin hot here on the iceberg for the last couple of weeks, dont know how much of that stuff I can stomach in this heat. Really not a summer drink at all, I should try freezing it.

Re: World Cup 2018 General Discussion
i dont think england will beat sweden tbh. the sweeds are very strong in defence and kane is the only player that looks like getting a goal for us. sweden will just double up on kane and snuff us out. but to get this far with the squad we have is great tbh.elfmeter wrote:Unique wrote:

Re: World Cup 2018 General Discussion
I really didn't expect any of these teams to reach the Semi final. Absolutely crazy this world cup has been.
It's the fall of the Giants, Liverpool Roma reaching semi finals etc
We are soon entering a new era where big names don't matter as much as passion and grit over 90 minutes.

Na didn't expect France to get through this far, Thought their system was dysfunctional and heavily reliant on individual brilliance (which they still doing but to good use)

Huge possibility of seeing two Tottenham players captaining their respective teams in a World Cup final too. What a time to be alive

Re: World Cup 2018 General Discussion
Interesting stat: Germany, Argentina, and Brazil were all knocked out in Kazan arena.
Kazan is definitely a giant-killing city....first beating peak Pep Barca in 2009, then being the only team (other than RM) to knock Atletico out of a European competition in years....and now this.
Great voodoo...Tatarstan pride

I think talent is a little more dispersed than it used to be. But more than anything, the talent level right now in football is low. I've been saying this for a while, and this world cup helps the idea along.
Obviously the world cup also shows that's not always a bad thing

Re: World Cup 2018 General Discussion
Yeah , we tied 1-1 in Kazan and risked even the loss in 09-10. And it was the year that we won the Champions League at the end. I remember some wanted to sack Mourinho for it because Rubin Kazan dominated us

If I remember correctly didn't you score in the last minute to qualify lol?
Can't remember who scored but my brain painted an image of Sneijder scoring for some reason.

This is one of the ugliest Russian girls I've ever seen in my life ffs
Super short hair + neck tattoo
I took many videos of girls dancing during my trip, but GL platform doesn't allow vimeo upload. Much hotter hooligans tbh
