Ozil was good. 7 players worse than him at least

Ozil was so lazy. That defending for the goal ffs
This just became a must win for us against S Korea. We draw/lose and we're out

Ozil 6.3, Müller 6.6, nah fam. Ozil was very much a passenger in this match.

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group F (Germany, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden)
At least Ozil made the run to come back, you can't expect him to have the same defensive technique or instinct as a CB. Germany as a whole, were just mediocre.
I am always surprised that they get away with Khedira-Kroos in midfield which is a erribly unbalanced midfield.
in the last world cup they had kroos playing n10, the team was much more balanced, but now without Schweini, they lost a lot in midfield, and they did not try to replace him. They are too vulnerable to counters

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group F (Germany, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden)
Assuming Sweden beats South Korea, then Germany must absolutely beat Sweden in their next match. Mexico will beat South Korea.
If all this falls into place... then Germany will likely finish 2nd and play Brazil in the next round.
It's not easy to play a must win game that early in the tournament however. Germany will feel the pressure. Sweden aren't doormats.

considering how much of a defensive unit Sweden are. Scoring past them will be hard.

If we beat S Korea we will go for a draw vs Germany. I think we'll get it but if we lose we are going to be forced to go for it and be ripped apart by Ozil and Kroos. The game tomorrow just became do or die with this result

Are they that good defensively? Italy isn't exactly a good test for anyone these days so I wonder about that. @halamadrid2 thoughts?

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group F (Germany, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden)
Everyone works hard in defence for us. Our FBs and Lindelof are not that good defensively. Granqvist has been the glue of the defence. We have a very high intensity. If Germany are as lazy they'll never score against us. Offensively we are less good. Seb Larsson plays as a CM next to the RW Claesson aka where attacks go to die. Our biggest threat will be Forsberg and our strikers who are super strong and have great chemistry. We wont score many goals but make no mistake we won't go down without a fight

They park the bus like champs Doc. They're like all the Nordic teams these days.... a pain in the ass to play.
Mourinho runs the technical setup for that entire part of Europe. Dreadful to watch for a neutral. But they get results because it is what it is.

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group F (Germany, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden)
I agree that Müller offered nothing. Brandt showed more in a handful of minutes than him. You need more pace out there than Müller, Özil, Khedira and Kroos.
But what shocked me more than Germany's impotent attack was their awful defence. Mexico had so many dangerous counter-attacks. Did Germany go into this game too arrogant?
Still, wouldn't surprise me if they won the group. Mexico can easily lose one or draw two and Germany build up a better goal difference.

Southe Korea isn't going to draw anyone Arte... they're the worst team in the tournament with Saudi Arabia. Mexico will crush them.

sportsczy wrote:The thing is Zigra... if you had Sane, maybe you think about that option after the loss to Mexico. There's a player with a different profile that allows you to adjust if things aren't working.
But because Low has 100 midfielders and quasi no options at the forward positions, Germany can only hope that Mueller, Werner or Draxler suddenly find scoring form. Werner is the only hope in fact imo. Mueller has been shit the last 2 years and Draxler wasn't much of a factor at PSG.
I think Reus should start over Mueller. I honestly would have started Sane on the left. Sane-Werner-Reus is a super fast front 3 that open space for the midfield. As it stands, the CBs push up because they feel they can recover against everyone but Werner.
Bad team decision by Low.
Löw can play Brandt-Werner-Reus so it's not exactly a problem.

Also let's not act like Mexico are gods now. They can easily lose or draw against both South Korea and Sweden.
Also put some respect on South Korea FFS

Why is everyone taking it for granted Brazil finishes 1st
Mexico was so incredibly wasteful. Was painful to see.

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group F (Germany, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden)
Germany looked an awful lot like Arsenal out there. Their midfield gave no protection to their centre backs, who were exposed by both Kimmich and Plattenhardt bombing on. Mexico were able to play easy passes up to Chicharito during transitions, while Lozano and Layun raced into the spaces left by the full-backs.
Don't know whether Kroos and Khedira just had a bad day, or whether the whole team were just too gung-ho without the sharpness they'd usually have. Either way, they were far too open against a dangerous Mexico front line.

Exactly what i thought while watching the last 20 minutes lol. Same sideway passing. Same forcing through the middle. Same lack of cover for CBs and midfield exposed.
Glad we didnt get Low

Not imo. Serbia are quite good; not sure why you include them tbh. Costa Rica is a well organized team. Australia...we'll see. Australia has great athleticism so they can defend (like Iceland). We'll see if South Korea having anything other than Son.

The German team is absolute dross. The last World Cup win has gotten to their heads. Sweden will put the final nail in their coffin. OUT.
