[Liverpool will step up their pursuit of Lyon star Nabil Fekir as they look to sign him before the World Cup, reports The Guardian.

The 24-year-old starred for Lyon in 2017-18, scoring 18 goals and earning a call to France's World Cup squad.

The Reds will see their finances boosted by £70 million (€80m/$94m) for reaching the Champions League final, and could spend that windfall on the attacking midfielder.

Feel the same way, probably fits Liverpool better if you guys play him centrally. Feel he is not explosive enough to play out wide.

I personally prefer Leon Bailey.

it's not a feel, you are right. he is not a winger. Lyon had the same problem with him in the past, he even said publicly that he did not like to play wide (because of the defensive work )

Appreciate the info, i don't think we move for him. I guess the other possibility would be similar role Mertens had under Sarri.

Seem destined to stay at Lyon though.

alisson was a far more important signing than fekir would have been. and i have a feeling liverpool pulled the plug on him as soon as they knew they could get alisson. that coutinho money will only go so far. Very Happy

He is good though. Very good dribbler just like Hazard. A tad slower but better passer according to me. He is also a better goal scorer than Hazard. He should do just fine in any team if he stays fit.

seems like he's having another decent season, but not putting up anything interesting (according to whoscored) the last month or so

either way he's played a lot of games and I think is one of the 'surest' things one of the top teams can probably buy this summer. Would like to sign him, but of course we won't. Hope he moves on from Lyon at least. Just not to a PL rival.

last year contract + no knees + terrible stamina + terrible attitude (probably not his fault)

Hope he succeeds at Betis because he is an exceptional talent.

20M is srsly wildly cheap

Curtone from Milan just went for that ffs

have to say this is truly one of the most baffling moves in the last decade IMO

20m is a lot to a club like Betis too for them to take a risk

for plenty of top clubs that Fekir would definitely improve, it's nothing..
