I think he is.
Even Yaya Sanogo scored a brace in some preseason friendly.
Meanwhile, Solanke is a striker who cannot score a single goal to save his life.
Why buy such a useless player?

Wasn't there like some random Norwegian dud with Refdrid? Cristensen, Hansen or something like that?

Renato Sanches was instrumental in getting Portugal a Euro Championship title. More instrumental than Ronaldo for that matter.

Solanke is U21 England captain and won them the U21 world cup singlehandedly

Now he has ruined Liverpool's last chance by badly taking on and messing up a header when Firmino would have been able to simply head it in behind him

Well, I gave it my all.
But even then I couldn't RJ Solanke into scoring a goal for Liverpool FOR ONCE. Would have been vital but he's just to useless.

In theory, it's good that you're nice towards a youngster and that you have patience, but in this case it's a waste of time.
It's clear to see the kid is never going to make it. Get rid and get someone with promise.

Re: Is Dominic Solanke the most useless young player ever signed by a top club?
Realistically he was never going to have a breakthrough season this year. Also the fact that he's very different in style to Firmino means he hasn't developed any sort of chemistry with his teammates and vice versa. He was bought for the future and didn't need to do much anything this season.
That said, I do accept that the signs aren't good and perhaps he doesn't have a long LFC future ahead of him. A big decision for Klopp in the summer whether to send Solanke out on loan or stick with him.

Re: Is Dominic Solanke the most useless young player ever signed by a top club?
Dom has talent, no doubt, he was considered to be slightly better than Tammy Abraham at one point (who has had a decent loan at Swansea), but Dom felt he was too entitled at Chelsea and left for Liverpool, expecting, not striving, for things to happen. They haven't and he has wasted a year. Big talent but he is wasting it with his mentality. Liverpool was never the right move for him, he'd be better off in the championship, which is where we would have sent him.
That said, he is still very young and can turn it around, if he really wants to. Or he can ride Pool's bench for his career.

We just gonna pretend Dembele is being benched by the likes of Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez and Alcacar and cost more than those 3 combined? No? Too old to be considered part of this discussion? I know he was injured and what not but he has been fit for quite a while and contributed as much as Solanke to Liverpool in Barca's double.

Re: Is Dominic Solanke the most useless young player ever signed by a top club?
Chelsea produces good young players who cant make the transition to the highest level. To be fair though thats the point. none of these kids are created to ever play for the likes of Chelsea(or rivals) because that goes against the spending business model. Im sure lower leagues can feast on them though.
Guys like Kakuta, Bamford, Musonda, Chalobah,Loftus-Cheek,Tomori...ect can all eat well in lower leagues. Same will be said of Solanke when the time comes.

He isn't free, he'll likely cost around 3m pounds.

Goal on the last day of the season, hope Pool decide to keep him next season and don't sign any forward reinforcements
