Liverpool have made Burnley's James Tarkowski and Newcastle's Jamaal Lascelles their primary defensive targets this summer, according to The Independent .

Despite spending £75 million ($100.5m) on Virgil van Dijk in January, Jurgen Klopp is keen to add another centre-back to his squad ahead of next season.

Both Tarkowski and Lascelles impressed for their respective clubs last term and would add depth to the Reds squad alongside Dejan Lovren and Van Dijk

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is open to selling defender Eric Bailly this summer, according to The Independent .

Mourinho has grown frustrated with Bailly, having been unable to rely on the former Villarreal centre-back to remain 100 per cent fit for long periods.

And with a move for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld in the pipeline, Bailly could soon become surplus to requirements.

tbh he seems aight, but Fiorentina is his lvl, not a marquee signing for Mehlan

he earns very good money at Milan, one of the highest earners in the league and he's like 30, can't see any takers, not even China
