UCL R16 : Sevilla Vs Man United

It's insane that Sevilla haven't scored tonight, goddamn

Not sure if I am more frustrated with Sevilla's extreme lack of goal scoring or Utd's ineptness. 0-0 is really not an ideal score line to go into the 2nd leg with and it wasn't as if Utd were controlling the game (despite what BT commentators kept harping about).

And of course, Montella, who comes from the Zidane school of substitution, waits till the 83rd(?) minute to make his first sub. Anyway, Sevilla did well today and I expect Utd would be a lil more brave 2nd leg.

Whoever gets any of the 4 teams that played today is going to get a free passage into the Semis. God, these teams are so far from the top they could even be beaten with B teams

Was Montella trying to be too oversmart ? Benching your top-scorer for a game like this ?

Ben Yedder would've buried atleast one of those chances that fell to Muriel.

I think Sevilla have a goal in them at OT, so we need two minimum, and I'm not convinced we can with mongs like Lukaku and Shitchez up top. Sevilla to progress.

@Firenze, Please, we were scoring joga bonito goals against them, akin to a kickabout in the park imo. If Mou wasn't so negative he'd find out that Sevilla let in goals in buckets. United have become so negative, their conc level is high but you see no passion, I mean Rashford was screwing up every attack and no emotion, like he was playing for a relegation team against some table toppers.

The difference in personality and approach couldn't be more different between Mou and SAF

SAF United you always felt they could nick a win somehow even when they were down 2-0 or 3-0. They had a fight in them, and the passion and hunger to win.

Mou is the opposite and his team is set up for it, and the team shows it. It's upsetting when teams like Sevilla don't put them to the sword like they could have tonight because now all of Brexit as well as Mou thinks they've done a good job

You can but I'm pretty sure Madrid would have belted at least 2 goals against this Sevilla side. Almost positive about it. This was ode to cowardice from Jose which is his usual MO apparently. Sevilla isn't a big goal scoring team and they can't defend well. Easy 2nd leg win if he has his team go out with a more positive style. Easy.

Hala and Doc are right - they do ship in quite some goals. Mourinho is playing a very dangerous game, because they can be dangerous on the counter, especially when Banega and Yedder are having a good game. United just forced themselves to play a lot more attacking futbol at OT, granting spaces behind their midfield. He is playing with fire with his cowardly tactics, and its not the first time.

Let's give credit to Montella though. Did better than we thought. They just don't have enough quality to win this tie unless Ben Yedder comes in and RKO's United defense outta nowhere

Actually triggered by how the BT commentators were creaming over United getting dominated and failing to score an away goal as if we'd just witnessed a masterclass on par with the comeback against Bayern all those years ago.

Wtf were they watching.

BT commentators kept saying it was a controlled performance and I really didn't see anything controlling from a Utd perspective. Quite the opposite really. Quite frankly, a better team would have punished Utd for this display.

They're lucky Sevilla always seem to have a collection of 'strikers' and 'forwards' that struggle to score 10 goals in 40 games.

To think Jupp Heynckes has more modern tactics than Mourinho
