Mo Salah appreciation thread
I obviously do not watch Roma but i remember him in CL with Basel and Roma, he was fast but never really picked my interest beyond his pace. Against Madrid in CL this year, he was very threatening obviously playing Marcelo side, very dangerous but he was easily contained because he was running straight lines.
But now he seems to be doing well in England. maybe i ought to watch him more because such sudden progression is a big unusual but he seems like a great winger now.

best player in the league, can't see anything other than Madrid or Barca in his future, maybe PSG too

Re: Mo Salah appreciation thread
Posters who watch Roma, even though they're non-Roma fans like Robes and Rincon, have been clearly saying he's legit and describing him exactly the way he presents himself to the rest of us now.
At some point we'll have to be honest with ourselves and concede that just because we watch a player once a year we don't know shit.

lel Good form doesnt equal class, and I doubt he will prove himself in any different club or league.
Honestly when watching him he lacks that special skill to be a greater player than he is. ofc I’m happy for his success but I doubt he will become better than a LFC player. Great goal no doubt today but again, nothing special. He outmuscled his defender and showed us his current fantastic form. Nothing more, nothing less

Well, he's done it at Roma (let's also not forget he was highly rated when he was younger) and has started even stronger in the PL..I watch his game, there's nothing he isn't extremely good at for his position, great, albeit awkward looking speed dribbling, INSANE pace, fantastic finishing (for a winger, he's still not extremely clinical) great final pass, not weak
he honestly seems complete to me

Re: Mo Salah appreciation thread
this is fair, but there is a difference between calling him a very good player in Italy, to now the best player in England.Hapless_Hans wrote:Posters who watch Roma, even though they're non-Roma fans like Robes and Rincon, have been clearly saying he's legit and describing him exactly the way he presents himself to the rest of us now.

And forgive me not to be so credulous of overnight successes.

he's not imo, he does sloppy passing at times, his dribbling seems so lucky except when he outpaces his opponent. but yeah, he is a good player. I'm sorry if I came out wrong I don't mean he is neccesarily bad, I just think if he moves outside LFC he might flop!
But tbh haven't watched him in Roma and seems like he was rated highly there aswell! So I could be wrong
how many of these one club players have we not seen? Illaramendi, Sahin etc. the list goes on forever

the main offensive force of Roma.
If he plays as done here,it's a absolutely a great signing and even on good price.
Never I'd say he is average looking at Roma.
He was really impressive.
Believe me I follow Serie A every Sunday , I also thought he was average before of joining in Serie A because of GL.
But I changed totally idea, he was really great to Roma that I'd sign him immediately to that price if Roma 'd have sold to us .. but they just sell him abroad. Great player based on how much seen in Roma no doubts on it
http://www.goallegacy.net/t40610p175-2017-18-summer-transfer-rumors-mk-i

Not surprised
He is EXACTLY the same player admired in Roma.
As Roma's contender , I hoped in this selling and I couldn't believe it that it was just for 40 !!!.. in this insane mercato
It's incredible to think Roma sell him and they 're 4th (few points from 1st though( even if they haven't replaced him worthily ( Schick and Defrel were useless so far ) .. Basically they could be top of the league easily now..
Anyway ppl should stop to have prejudices based on leagues , Bundesfodder Mule League Serie Zzzz etc ( it is not just banter )
If the talent is real, it is real everywhere.
And Salah has real talent , it was enough to observe him
Not just a fast player I mean

@Robespierre
^Pretty much posted the same thing in the EPL thread. He is doing what he does, he is great. This (EDF's) Roma with a Salah would very good.
Most wingers have really inconsistent final ball, its the most frustrating thing about them for me. In his case he is uncharacteristically effective for a player of his type, which makes him great.

Still yet to understand what he does wrong to achieve the status of a donkey. His worst attribute is finishing. He doesn't need pace to beat a man and almost always receives the ball with his back towards the goal and still makes something out of it.

I can only speak for myself.
What I knew of him was that he was supposed to be promising at Basel and then hardly ever got playing time at Chelsea.
The couple of sub appearances I saw he looked like a player who maybe could be useful when countering due to his speed but didn't produce.
Then I saw him again only in the CL last 16 Roma vs Real games, where he looked like a brainless pace merchant.
That's where my impression came from.

Re: Mo Salah appreciation thread
During his time at Roma (especially in his early days), I was one of his detractors. I saw him as Gervinho 2.0 - A pacy dribbler with zero attacking intelligence that could be easily stifled by a defender with great positioning and tackling ability.
Boy, was I wrong. Reminds me a bit of prime-Robben in that you have a general idea of what he may do, but still won't be able to stop him from doing it because he's THAT good.
Will go down as not only one of our best attackers of the Palotta era, but as a player we woefully undersold to Liverpool. Should've asked for 20m more tbh.
Great to see him lighting up a league that previously had written him off.

Re: Mo Salah appreciation thread
Whatever complain or expectations I have at the moment are:
1. He is a bit selfish. More intent on finding/creating a goal for his own than creating an assist. Not that it's a bad thing or that it's affecting us.
2. His work-rate is a bit low specially in terms of defensive duties. Off-course I would like him to press/track-back deeper like Firmino but not at the cost of his attacking guile.
Frankly I was afraid. Specially after what happened to Mane
. I mean, since Mane was an instant hit, Salah got to be the straggler, right
?
Keep up the good work, lad.

the only game he looked great in against any of the top 6 was Arsenal, and Lingard looked like a Balon winner against them. big teams have nothing to fear from this guy tbh.

You've basically got a poor man's Dele Alli (Lingard) carrying you right now while desperately clinging on to the belief that 32-year-old fullbacks in Ashley Young and Antonia Valencia are somehow credible at the top level. I know Liverpool's defence is shit, but you've just got different level blinders on there, mate.
