Not even surprised at this point with Trump. This is a very Trump thing to do as he simply doesn't care about any of this. He probably felt he fulfilled his duty by just showing up.

On the other end of that spectrum, the pictures of Merkel and Macron are pretty cool.

There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!

Background on this tweet: There are parts of California are currently experiencing a very aggressive fire that has destroyed a lot of homes and has killed 23 people already while sending hundreds of thousands fleeing. Requests for federal aid from the Government are underway, but Trump has chosen to respond with this tweet.

Well he's not wrong in this case. In CA specifically, only 30% of the allocated funds end up being spent of the project itself. 70% is wasted on the bureaucracy.

In essence, if you need $300K for a project, you need to raise $1 million to feed all the vampires first.

I think 30% on bureaucracy is a reasonable number because it's the government. But 70% is beyond ridiculous.

THAT SAID, could this idiot not wait until after the fires are under control and the victims are properly mourned? What an asshole.

Oh and news media, whether conservative or republican, are both mostly garbage. There's so much bias that you can't differentiate fact from editorial... or from pure fiction. Get US news from foreign outlets, which is laughable.

Getting rid of the FCC fairness doctrine in 1987 was one of the single dumbest things in the US.

What pisses a lot of people off about this though (me included) is that this fire started on federal land. That makes it the responsibility of the federal government to step in and help. The feet dragging isn't a good look.

Every part of our government suffers from bureaucracy, yet somehow when disasters like this happen more often than not, our government finds a way to help mitigate those disasters. Outside of the Puerto Rico debacle, Trump's Admin have been doing reasonably well in that regard up until now.

My very cynical side tells me that Trump doesn't see CA as a state where he will ever make inroads so he doesn't want to spend resources there. In fact, he's rather stick it to CA even in such a circumstance. I'm pretty sure this is the reality of it unfortunately. Sad really.

It's a sizable portion though Unique. That being said, I wonder if they know Nazi Germany would have probably executed most of their ancestors because they did not fit any of his, um, requirements for the master race. I guess that's why it's Neo Nazi since the original concept would have clearly seen most if not all of them staring down the business end of a rifle.

As for Baraboo. Not even surprised. There are places like that all over the Midwest and Prairie States. Lots of confederate flags and "southern pride" double-speak, dog-whistling. Neo Nazi propaganda is never far behind.

Considering the many stories about those kids I doubt it. There’s a whole thread about their racism towards minorities at the school, using various derogatory terms like the n-word and some Native American stuff.

The guy on the right has also been heavily bullied by the guys and received threats since he went public about them.

Sounds like an incredibly toxic environment overall.

Whoa, that sounds bad and incredibly unnecessary. Has the school done anything to prevent this? Contacting their parents would be a start. All hell would break lose if something like that had happened at my school. Great initiative by CB, though! Laughing

That's normal for school districts like this unfortunately. Sauk County, where Baraboo resides in, is 97% white after all and was one of the so-called "Pivot counties", meaning it voted for Obama twice and then turned around and voted for Trump in 2016. What's ironic is they went for Democrat Evers for Governor over GOP Walker in the recent election although the local sheriff, a Republican, won re-election. It's likely heavily Republican, heavily Christian, and heavily conservative. These are perfect conditions for incubating racist tendencies in a smaller society like this.
