Eventhough we have gone up again finally, I still feel like we are going to draw this match.

Cause for a lot of concern regarding CR's decline. I'm genuinely worried.
When Benzema looks faster than him, you know he's slowed a ton.

Defense. Kova and Ceballos are not known for defending. You're protecting a lead and God knows Marcello needs the help.

Here I was thinking you could defend by actually having players able to keep the ball.

Well, that was needlessly hard but that's the Madrid way. Really fed up of Zidane and this double full back wing tactic. It is shit. Like total amounts of shit.
Other than that, glad for the win and good to see B&C scoring again.

Well that was a relief. We look so disorganized. I'm surprised we came away with a win.

i told you Zidane is a crock of shit, i have known for like 2 years now. these are the card we have, he will ride this golden generation as long as he can.
When you look at the shit he tries to bring, like the double fullback tactic you dont want him longer than these guys will last, he is shit

Re: Real Madrid vs Malaga
When we're ahead with 20 mins to go, bringing in defensive cover for Marcelo is the correct move... whether you like or not. It's a romantic notion that we can suddenly play keep away with the ball when we're normally not capable of it consistently, especially on the road.
If we were even or behind, then the criticism of bringing in defensive cover for Marcelo is valid.
The idea is to lock down the wings with Vasquez/Carvajal and Hernandez/Marcelo... and force the opposition to beat you down the middle... with Casemiro and Varane there.
Until our strikers can be counted on to score, going defensive is the correct tactic. Once CR and Benz pick up form, then we can take more risks as we're likely to put chances away. We've gotten burned too much so far this season with trying to chase goals, have our strikers fail to take their chances and then conceding a late equalizer or winner.
I expect us to go full Serie A in terms of style until our attack gets sorted.... namely, if we have the lead with 20-25 mins to go, we're closing the door, not trying to score. Did the same thing last season until CR got going. Difference is that we were good at taking the lead and we didn't need to players the likes of Ashraf, Vallejo and Nacho a ton. We had Pepe and Danilo to help (as much as we hated Danilo, he shits all over Ashraf).
In short, takes the points until the teams sorts itself out. Once things are sorted, then we can turn on the style.

Re: Real Madrid vs Malaga
Zidane isn't the most shit manager of all time, and he is not the greatest manager of all time. Having to deal with such an inept attack (Bale constant injury, Ronaldo decline, and Benz having a lobotomy) is the biggest problem he has had to deal with as a manager.
If we are being honest, it would be a problem for any manager, so let's not pretend someone could come in and right the ship immediately. That being said, some of it is on him. What he could do right now is dump this terrible 4-4-2 Zidamond. I think all of us would agree that has been the main source of our issues. BUT, do we have the personnel to play a 4-3-3 right now? I don't really think so. As much as we want Ceballos to play he is not a winger or even a player I would want out wide. The only alternative we could play would be a 4-3-2-1 with 2 AM's (Isco, Ceballos, Asensio, Kovacic could all play there) if we want to move away from the 4-4-2 Zidaimond and play something that suits our current personnel.
The problem is we are getting further into the season and he is showing very little flexibility or ability to change things when it gets rough. He has needed to make some sort of change 6 weeks ago, and the slowness to adapt is leaving everyone frustrated.

Re: Real Madrid vs Malaga
Most managers won't make radical changes until the winter break... because it allows them time to implement the change, see how it works in practice and bring it to games with some semblance of cohesion. And even then, most managers have a set system they like to play. Mou and the 4231, Conte and the 352, Carlo and his diamond or 442, etc. Zidane seems to favor the diamond.
You can't ask a manager to change his philosophy and tactics. He won't. Either you live with it or you change the manager to someone is known for the tactic you want. I don't think Flo or anyone on the board give a shit about the tactic as long as we win trophies and the ratings are high.
Most Madrid fans I know don't want a change in tactics or manager at all... they're more frustrated with Benzema and Bale. They want different players.

Re: Real Madrid vs Malaga
We're also frustrated with Z for sticking with those two and not strengthening the squad.
I think I don't need to remind you that this is Madrid; the most demanding club with the most demanding fan base in world football. We're grateful to Z for all the trophies he's won for the club, but if he doesn't win a major trophy this year, we'll ask for his head.
I'm proud that this club doesn't stand for mediocrity and Z needs to understand that before he loses his head or keeps on playing mediocre players like Benzema.

Re: Real Madrid vs Malaga
Managers have more than 1 formation, Conte who you mentioned has played a 3-5-2, 3-4-3, Carlo has played a 442, 433, 4312, 4321. If this is all Zidane has, then he deserves to be sacked- the Zidiamond has been figured out.
He needs a plan B, and if you are asserting that he doesn't have one then that is a problem, it's not status quo.

i'm with this group. the players respect the current manager, and that matters a lot

Mourinho doesn't. Conte has played, and failed, with other formations... he defaulted back to the 352. Carlo has tried different formations... but only at the start of a season. He never changed in the middle of a season.
Zidane actually started out with a 4231 with James and Isco... that failed... so he switched to a 433 with Casemiro. Only since Bale can't stay healthy and Ronaldo cannot function as a wide player anymore has he gone to a 442. If Ronaldo was capable of playing wide, i bet you that we would still be in a 433.
Right now, as you mentioned, we really don't have the healthy personnel to run anything else but a 442. A 4231 is possible, but then you'd have to bench either Kroos or Modric and that isn't going to happen. I also don't like leaving Marcelo with only 2 mids as cover.
Assuming we are going to start both Benz and CR, we are pigeon holed in a 2 striker setup. Neither can play any other position than centrally. Do you bench Benz? If Asensio had shown anything to start the season, maybe we'd consider it. But he hasn't. So you would be benching Benzema for either Vasquez or Mayoral right now.... and not even Mayoral because he's useless other as a CF too. So the only way we can play a 433 is with Vasquez or Asensio replacing Benz. Who the heck wants that.

ofcourse. its very rare to have fantastic back-up goalie. i get pissed at kiko too, but its hard to have a trustworthy one. unlike outfield players a goalie hardly gets taken off during the game except for injuries or a red card, and the back up might go a whole season and play less than 20 games; less than 5 up tempo big clashes. so when they get a run out, they're main job is just to stand inbetween the sticks. the coach the team and the fan's main job is to hope and pray he doesn't get tested as much....and can pull some few saves, which many times they can't. career wise, a back up goalie is a dangerous path
