La BartoLiga edition 2017/18
Barcelona bias? Real Madrid denied 10 penalties
After 12 rounds of the season, Barcelona’s rivals can’t stop throwing away points.
Atletico Madrid held Real Madrid to a goalless draw on Saturday night.
The result means that Barca have a 10 point advantage at the top of the league over their rivals from Madrid.
Penalties awarded and conceded in the last 100 matches in La Liga:
Awarded
> Barcelona: 33
> Real Madrid: 14
Conceded
> Barcelona: 2
> Real Madrid: 10
Difference/Net
> Barcelona: 31 in favor
> Real Madrid: 4 in favor
Following the Atletico game, Real Madrid fans have been alerted to the fact that they’ve still not won a penalty this season in La Liga. Against Atleti, Los Blancos could easily have won a spot-kick. Perhaps the most convincing penalty call came when Lucas Hernandez kicked Sergio Ramos in his face. Ramos was left with a broken nose, which will sideline the centre-half for this week’s Champions League action.
Nine points lost
Spanish paper AS have investigated Real Madrid’s penalty stats this season.
They’ve claimed that Real have been denied nine points in the Spanish top flight after the refs have failed to point to the spot.
Pointing out the obvious, those extra nine points would cut down Barcelona’s lead to just a single point. AS tell their readers the following:
Upon reviewing the contentious decisions that have affected Real Madrid in their 12 matches this season, there are no less than ten penalties that should been awarded (and three of those were in the derby at the Wanda Metropolitano!).
Going through the Real Madrid penalty shouts
1) Valencia’s Dani Parejo grabbed hold of Karim Benzema’s shirt.
2) Against Levante, Theo Hernandez denied a penalty when fouled in the box.
3-5) Three penalty shouts v Betis. Marcelo was hacked down in the box by Javi Garcia, before Garcia intercepted the ball with his arm in a separate incident. Garcia completed his hat-trick of potential penalty calls when he grabbed Cristiano Ronaldo during a set-play.
6-7) Las Palmas got away with two calls. Michel got away with bringing down Casemiro in the box, when Nancho got nothing after a 50-50 with Mauricio Lemos.
8-10) Three more calls go against Real v Atletico. There was the Lucas Hernandez’ kick on Sergio Ramos. Diego Godin stopped a Ronaldo shot with his arm. While Fernando Torres pulled back Nacho at a corner.

Statistics should be even more lobsided, and they're not even factoring in what situation penalties were given. Spanish refdrids are notorious of hiding bias behind sheep statistics.
Obvious response from Spanish paper for master Harmonica. Too bad I destroyed it with one sentence. And another proof that Real Madrid owns most of the media.

We've been denied a fair amount as well, so I'd say it definitely does not justify the fact that you're 10 points behind.

1. Refs in Spain aren't biased, they're just awful.
2. This season, you do not deserve more points than you already have, since your performances have been shameful.
That's all. Let's agree to disagree.

Madrid and Barca fans arguing over who gets the most favours from the refs
Glorious, one day you'll both realize that you both get a ridiculous amount of decisions you shouldn't.
