Casemiro isn't only doing the defensive duties but he's also scoring in important games too but hey lets nominate Kante and Benzema and not Casemiro #Yolo

2 of the top 3 DMs making the list in a notoriously forward favoured system is pretty good

Kante is the best DM in the world by a mile. Agree with Benz obviously. But you are completely off base with Kante.

Kante's been the best player in the prem over the last two seasons yet he apparently doesn't deserve to be there

Not for me. I think Casemiro is better overall.
He's better on the ball, can pick up some nice passes and is comfortable in possession.
He's provides more physicality and height to a midfield while still maintaining some form of flair.
Constant threat in attack: in set pieces, runs from open play, longshots.
He has a pure defender's instinct. He knows when to track back, when to push in for a tackle, when to commit a foul.
He's a master of dark arts; Casemiro will never get a second yellow in his career.
They things Kante has over Casemiro, are the stamina to constantly run all over the pitch and better 1 v 1 defending and interceptions. It's not that Kante has nothing other than those, it's just that Casemiro is better at them; the competition is very close, but I would pick Casemiro.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
Kante being the best player in the EPL seems like a very Chelsea thing to say but at the same time, could be accurate as well considering he has been a key component in 2 title winning sides. So yes, he definitely deserves to be in that list.
As for Kante - Casemiro show down, sigh, my bias would obviously choose the latter and any reasoning I have, even if it is as objective as one can be, would just be brushed off as Madrid bias. That being said, Casemiro's tackling, which is absolutely spot on usually and his ability to never receive that 2nd yellow is outstanding and he too, should have been there.

I like Kante, but i don't think he's the best player in the PL tbh, i think Sanchez, Mane, Valencia, Merino, Eriksen, etc all can stake a better claim

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
How is this "never receiving a second yellow card" being considered a good thing?
It's not because he's a genius that knows exactly what the limits are. It's been a mixture of terrible refereeing and good luck. Zidane has had to take him off many times as a precaution because he was diving into tackles on a yellow card in the 35th minute. Eventually his recklessness will catch up to him and he'll screw Madrid over in a big game.

I thought the dark arts line would confirm it was a joke.

Because I'm a Madrid fan and it benefits my personal viewing. Also, to elaborate, it's a mixture of seriousness and astonishment that he really is getting away with some actual deserved yellows.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
Lol, casemiro is not better on the ball then kante. He's got him down on Shooting and tackling.. that's about it.
The fact that you made that statement really makes me question whether you've seen kante and casemiro play. Casemiro has only recently improved his ball skills.
Casemiro has the edge because he's in madrid and kante is in Chelsea. Both great players though.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
I can´t believe this thread which is supposed to about Ballon d'or has degenerated into talking about two DMs.
They have about as much chance of winning the Ballon d'or as Ramos or Neuer.

Cristiano will win, his form in the knockout rounds last year was insane. Probably one of the most clutch CL campaigns ever.

Preach brother. Casemiro is the full package. We've won the CL with him everytime he's been in the team. Nobody has anything on him

Messi's ecuador win has him back in contention. IF he has a Maradona-esque world cup, he will win it i think.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
This year's world cup is always down to the WC winner. If Iceland win it Gylfi will get the BD. The only exception is when the winning team has no clear front runner and the vote gets diluted into several people (for instance, Xavi, Iniesta and Casillas).

I like how people still believe the WC actually means anything with regards to this unless Messi wins it.
When the last team a WC winner won it lol? Cannavaro?
GL pls.

I think next year is the last year these 2 GOATS go at it for the Baller D'Or, bringing it 10 years full circle since the last winner wasn't one of them, will be incredibly decisive. Unless Neymar has unreal season and carries Brazew to the WC final.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
Nah. Whoever wins it, it is still between Ronaldo and Messi.
The only exception is Brazil. Then Neymar wins it, and that's because he is in the top 3.

He SHOULD win but its not confirmed. Messi's hattrick has put the hype back on him just like CR's hattrick against Sweden in 2013.

Re: 2017 Ballon d'Or
By all means he can be on that list. Them picking Kante shows that they value DMs but then there's no Cssemiro so it quickly turns to bias. Casemiro is literally the reason we are now this hard to beat team. Not only that but he's chipped in with many important goals yet they can't find it within themselves to recognise him. I mean they are happy picking a guy who hasn't played a minute in Europe but overlooks the guy whose teammates have credited with the reason they are now playing as good as they are. I don't even know why I care tbh, he'll probably become our new Pepe, in the sense that he'll never be recognised despite being the best in his position. I am sure Brazil fans are grateful for his presence within the NT too. Suddenly they are no unstoppable and this with both Marcelo and Alves starting.Kick wrote:Kante's been the best player in the prem over the last two seasons yet he apparently doesn't deserve to be there
