Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
This is from ESPN, I don't know how accurate they are about European football, but anyway:
Are Barca desperate to get rid of his wages or why are they trying so hard to get him out of there? I thought he's still playing to a pretty good standard and scoring goals?
Barcelona Prepared To Bench Luis Suarez If Transfer Not Found
Barcelona are trying to unload Luis Suarez but they're prepared to banish him if they're unable to do so.
Suarez makes approximately €25 million gross per season.
Barcelona are resistant to paying off the entirety of his contract to play for Juventus.
Ronald Koeman will have final say on how to handle the situation if Suarez ends up staying.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Hahaha Barcelona is such an economic failure.
Fact #1: Barca is unable to sell anyone
Fact #2: Barca is unable to renew the squad, kuz they can't sell the old mercenary amigos
Fact #3 The only way that Barca could have possibly made any money... (letting Messi Leave) Barca has not allowed that ... and Barca is going to lose him for FREE next summer
Fact #4: Barcelona is literally so bankrupt... they can't find the $20 million to buy Depay
Fact #5: Barcelona pays astronomical world record salaries to players who don't give a flying *uck about FCB.... Suarez, Greizmann, etc
The Biggest Economic Collapse since great depression ... incoming

Good riddance
Last season we competed against Messi and Suarez. This season we compete against only Messi. Fantastic!

Yes, wages. Coutinho returned from loan and now Barca don't have money to sign any new players.
Also a decent scapegoat to deflect from the Board's waste of ressources and hiring frauds like Setien midseason for no reason.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Talking about it.
Koeman cannot, for the moment, sit on the bench in an official match. RFEF has not been able to process his file because Barca and Setien have not agreed with their settlement. Setien wants to collect the salary of the remaining year he had signed.
"Relocating" Setien's staff because they can't compensate them financially.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
And it just keeps coming. Im guessing its not abnormal these kind of things, but there are just so many of time and non stop. Barto must be one of the worst presidents we have had and will go down as a hated one Im sure when he should leave soon.
Hope he goes soon and the next one is better, although am not optimistic, a real good one would need to change and turn things around from so many deep problems in management...

Didn't the media report this as a "resignation"?
Amazing how he has the gall to lose 8-2 and still want to collect a year's worth of unworked salary. Man has no dignity.

What nonsense are you talking about @BC?
A contract is a contract, it’s absolutely irrelevant that he lost. You owe the man, pay him.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Is there a legal difference between the words fired/sacked/dismissed ?
I assumed that if someone is told to leave, the contract goes in the garbage can and maybe you must pay a settlement to protect the employee (personally as president my contracts would always have a clause to exclude this)

No there’s no difference in this context
With managers, if you sign for a 5 year contract (for example), for 1 million per season and you’re fired in year 3, you are owed for year 4 and 5
There are exceptions (I.e. early termination clauses) or routinely clauses that if the manager obtain another managerial position, then the club will not be obligated to pay the remainder of the term

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
So if he got sacked Barca are the crooks
If the coach really resigned and now he comes up with this he's just losing everyone's time
But that much is their problems. Tbh i came here to find infos whether he comes at Juve or not, instead i found another controversy in Barcelona

The slow ass bastard would still find a way to score a hattrick in the Clasico. I cannot wait for Suarez to just fucking go.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
So he's officially left Barcelona for Atletico.
The best striker of this decade. Him losing his explosive pace made him comical to watch at times, but he's gone down as one of Barca's greatest CF's ever.
How do we see him doing at Atletico? He's 33 now, but I think he still has something to offer. I can see him hitting around 10-15 goals in the league or so. What do you guys think?

He was great first few years with us, but then got the knee injury and has been comically bad since then.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Suarez is such a all round top footballer and he does many things that basically nobody else can. He often makes virtually impossible shots and goals, out of not very much or nothing at all, absolute flair and street smart player. But thats just the highlight of his game, his an all rounder, able to link, create, score, and thats why hes been dominating for so long.
He has his weaknesses these days obviously, but hes still far better than most strikers out there, if hes motivated enough, and physically up to it.
He always makes the opposition defenders suffer thats for for, wouldnt wanna come up vs him this season, will be interesting to watch

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Suarez is going to get his confidence back in a team with much stronger mental strength than barca.
He has not relied on his pace ever since 2016. His strength in the past few years has been positioning, and placement of great shots.
This guy's finishing is still World Class.

Yeah I'm with Harmonica on this. Suarez has been shocking the last 2/3 seasons. Some of his misses were unbelievable.
Might still put Eto'o above him tbh for Barcelona.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
When Opta collect data on shots their operator makes a note of whether he or she considers a shot to be a Big Chance. What makes a shot or header a Big Chance is difficult to define, but most of us know when we see one. And the Opta operators receive training to make sure they are consistent as possible in how they categorize shots. These human assessed Big Chances are a pretty good measure of the probability of a goal being scored. In fact, they are just as good as expected goals. Humans are as good as statistics at evaluating the quality of chances a team is creating.

Re: What happened to Luis Suarez?
Barca tribute for Suarez on twitter yesterday was great. The whole day dedicated to him . If I were a Barca fan, I would have got emotional probably. That's in contrast with the treatment by Bartomeu towards him probably. Anyway he 's signed with a great club , he can conclude worthily his career under Simeone imo
