Not really. Xavi is hesitant as he thinks it may be too soon to take over as big a job as Barca and Koeman's position obviously depends on results and performances.

Koeman is doing fine and doesnt deserve a sack. Xavi needs a revamp and fresh start, which could be challenging due to lack of money and all that

There's one big question hovering over the future of Barca and it's not who's coach

It's what's going to happen with Messi

will they renew him with as much money? Can they possibly afford that?

Seeing that Laporta, and probably all the other candidates, ran ona platform of 'keep Messi at all costs', that seems to be the orthodoxy, but is that orthodoxy in line with reality?
Would Messi agree to take a substantial pay cut?

Or wouldn't it be time to renovate the squad, which seems difficult in the stranglehold of Messi's wages?
So shouldn't getting rid of that financial stranglehold be a chance the club should grip with both hands?

But then, can they be prepared for the void he will be leaving on the pitch and in the imagination?

I'd rather sell Griezmann and Coutinho to make some space than sell Messi.

Selling Messi would have made sense last summer, but allowing him to leave for free? Another huge blunder on Fartomeu's part.

Yep the chance for Messi to leave is gone. I  hope they find an agreement to stretch out  his salary payments over more years or something to keep the budget intact. Messi's first choice is staying in Spain for sure

Sell Griezmann and Coutinho first (terrible and unreliable players to build the team on). Busquets aswell

Tbh i forgot coutinho is even still w us. Thats how irrelevant he is and we play miles better without antoine.

Agreed...Selling players like Griezmann, Coutinho, Busquets, Umtiti, Braithwaite, Pjanic should be the top priority. I think Laporta will be able to manage Messi with pay cut. He should accept that if the right project is presented.

#1. Is there any taker for Coutinho and Griezmann for a decent price?

#2. The wage & benefits of Messi is just humongous and would free up a sizable fund for squad rebuilding.

If they do retain Messi, it's going to be for multiple years. The club hierarchy has to do the math if the revenue generated by Messi is any longer sustainable considering his cost.

Next Tuesday Barcelona will publicly share the results of the investigation done to find out irregularities in management during the previous presidential term under Josep Maria Bartomeu. It will be given by Joan Laporta at 11am.

Justice Administration in Catalonia has opened an investigation into the economic management of the board led by Josep Maria Bartomeu. [rac1]

Laporta: "Very dubious operations were detected. All of them have been investigated. An agency investigated and found unwarranted and disproportionate payments."

"What we don't want is to be complicit in those actions that led Barça to a complicated situation. We inherited an economic situation with an astronomical debt and great losses."

"We show it because the socios have the right to know what they did when they ran the club."

"We filed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office. We are here to explain further in detail."

Eduard Romeu (economic vp of Barça): "When we arrived, we found that we had no money and a lot of debts. There was also no money to pay salaries."

"In two years, Barça have lost more than €600 million and of these only 135 correspond to COVID-19."

"We reconverted the debt that was short-term, to make it long-term."

"In 7 years no maintenance was done on the facilities, which were totally obsolete. If the stadium had to be opened earlier, we don't know if it could have been done."

"Espai Barca will allow the club to grow, to be competitive. We managed to get it voted through a referendum."

"We had more than €400 million in open litigation, in various trials. And we are trying to solve all the issues."

"We have a negative of €450m of our own funds."

"The salary bill is fundamental. We were 40% above our competitors and that was a totally unsustainable situation."

"To date, we have already saved €159m from the club's wage bill."

"We have to grow in terms of income... Although we are not at the most propitious moment, but the Barça brand maintains an evident strength."

"We are looking for the best road companion for Barça Studios."

"The objective is to put the club in the best situation in two years... And we are totally convinced of regenerating the situation we find ourselves in."

Jaime Campaner (lawyer specialized in economic law): "After everything I found, there is no doubt that we had to go to court."

"We have no doubt that the consequences of the forensic investigation have criminal significance, so the board has decided to bring these facts to the attention of the Prosecutor's Office. We can face complex economic crime."

"This is not about purging the previous board; It is about taking the very serious behaviours that have been found to the Prosecutor's Office. And we accompany evidence, not just words."

"When someone manages someone else's property, they cannot give away money as if it were their own."

"We are talking about millionaire amounts. There are payments to intermediaries without justification, non-existence or well above normal. Commissions of up to 33% have been detected, when 5% is normal."

"There is a company that was born solely to work on commissions with Barcelona."

"Lawyers have received an abundance of money without performing any service. We are talking about several million euros. Up to 7m for the supposed signing of a player."

"Money has been diverted and there has been a deliberate accounting alteration."

"Totally artificial accounting benefits were presented that are not the reality of the club."

"The club paid 1.7m to silence people."

"There are indications of an illegitimate payment of 15 million euros to a club for rights of young players."

Laporta: "We imagined a bad economic situation but it exceeded our expectations."

"The Prosecutor's Office must determine if it constitutes a crime."

"We are neither policemen nor judges. We simply fulfill our obligation, which is to bring these actions to the knowledge of the socios. Who will determine if there is a crime or not, will be the prosecution."

There was a recurring modus operandi that avoided the internal controls of certain operations and also, the most serious thing for me, the statutory controls that did not go through controls of the board of directors."

"We are talking about millionaire amounts, millionaire commissions totally out of the market."

"If someone has taken money from the club? This problem is very serious, the forensic investigation does not rule out these behaviors. The prosecutor's office will determine it."

"There is a case of a commission to a lawyer, astronomical, that was paid through a player, not the club."

"The modus operandi is evident. Splitting invoices so that they do not pass internal controls is a practice that had become habitual with the previous board of directors."

"There are payments to journalists with a dubious cause."

Laporta: "There are other irregularities that have been detected, but we cannot give the details for now... We will provide evidence if the Prosecutor's Office request so. We're open to helping them."

"What I will never do will be payments without cause, pay money for a concept that is not true, that is false. And of course disproportionate payments."

"What I will not do is say that a player costs 17m and then it turns out that 40m goes to the father. What I will not do is hide what is paid, I will not mask reality, I will always explain it."

This needs to happen to the Lim's as well. Been stagnant since he took over minus the CDR title.
