Thoughts on Torreira @rincon?

Torreira is a less technical but more energetic Verratti type of player.Clearly not on that level but has lot of potential.
Worth a gamble if we wont decide to go for more expensive options such as Savic or Niguez.

That said he still lacks a solid physical presence and is a short guy so can't see him play along Pjanic for example.

Looks good. He was on fire earlier, a lot less now but still good. Imagine Medel/Melo but more technical. Typical Uruguayan footballer.

If he can be got for the 25m clause then its a good deal. There was talk of signing a new contract to bump the clause up sadly. To something like 50m. Could be an improvement over Matuidi in the short term.

I don't think Mattiello has a future with us at all so let him go to Samp if need be. Cerri looks like a proper scrub so no loss there either.

On the other hand giving Mandragora to Samp in any permanent nature to sweeten some deals seems silly.

Lets say a quick list of "attainable" young midfielders in the league that look best and could be interesting. I'd take any of them for more or less important roles depending on the guy.

Very good points regarding Torreira. The transfer's sensibility would come down to the cost. I don't see him as a player to immediately improve us, or weaken us either. Having both Torreira and Bentancur is pretty interesting, two young Uruguayan midfielders at Juve together.

I thought Barella was very impressive for Cagliari against Juventus, he owned us a couple times. I like his profile, but given that he's just extended, it makes a move maybe more tricky or costly.

Barella's extension is 100% to bump up his salary and transfer fee. Same as if Torreira signs a new deal now. It will give the clubs more leverage to ask for a bigger fee.

Which shouldn't detrimental to a club like Juve, should we really want to pursue either player but it does ruin Marotta's wet dreams of getting all these players on the cheap due to their expiring contracts, low release clauses or poor wages to entice players

Yeah the only one where we could be priced out of is Sergej. The rest are just a matter of how highly Marotta rates and if the players will wanna join our crowded midfield. Barella we probably don't even have to convince as he is Italian and we are Juve but Torreira might choose (wisely) playing time over us and go to Inter/Atletico.

Might mean were clearing out the Khedira's/Sturaro's of our midfield. Which may not be a bad thing. Between the two of them and Marchisio's unfortunate injury record, it remains our thinnest position, even with Can.

I feel bad always talking poorly regarding Khedira, but I just don't rate him.

Also, when Matuidi is one of your top midfielders in 2018, it might be time to properly address the position

At this point having lost all faith in Marchisio I'd give him the Sturaro role and upgrade on Khedira and Sturaro

Yeah, Marchisio staying at this point is more a surprise than something we can rely on. He is great when fit still but we have to upgrade on others to make sure we are covered.

Sell Sturaro. Keep Marchisio without pressure. Khedira on a good day I love, on a bad day he disappears. I think if we get a proper player to rotate him it would be nice so he can be benched when needed, by someone with quality. That or selling him if he wants to move on.

Bologna need a replacement and our boy Orsolini is being quoted to going there in search of playing time. A loan with an option to buy for around 7m and an option for us to buyback for like 11m.

In my theory Emre Can is replacing Khedira... leaves us with Marchisio-Pjanic-Matuidi-Can as a top 4. You don't live long in the wild with this lineup i'm telling ya

You never know if he is the real deal with kids, too much can happen. As far as apparent talent and performances he looks better than the rest of the young midfielders in Serie A. Seems more talented than any other one besides Sergej who is 3 years older.

Would rather bet on Barella than on Can, Cristante or Torreira.

Ideally, I think all these players should stay in their clubs for longer. If you wait and not bid early though, you lose your chance because the market is in crazy overdrive nowadays and you have to sign half-proven kids in the hope of striking gold.

Sadly, there's little to suggest he'll be there next season. He's clearly lacking the durability and at 31 [turns 32 next week], its difficult to imagine a physical resurgence.

If we can get 20 strong appearances from him next season and have him a a leader for the new and younger players at Juventus, then this is what we should be aiming for- in my opinion

As for Barella, I like his profile. He's still very raw but I think he's the type of midfielder we could use



Very small sample but against Juve, he was at the helm of their best attacking moments. He did about as good as you can do against a Matuidi/Sandro and Chiellini at times

Another Cagliari player were are apparently after is Han, north korean striker on loan at Perugia in Serie B. Never seen a match of his, just youtube. Seems to be highly rated. Would happily trade Cerri (as has been reported) to take a chance for a talented player.
