Don't know why this discussion about the writing comes up now. Has been garbage level (no hyperbole at all, pls go) for a long while now.

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
- Spoiler:
- I think the Winterfell storyline is the most boring this season. Little Finger has become a rather dull character. Arya's return, after massacring the Freys, underwhelming. Sansa just a consistently whiny, power starved person, boring. Bran, might as well be a vegetable- at least bring back the GOAT visions.
I was a couple weeks early, but a dragon is down leaving two- one for Jon, one for Dany
Finale will be unreal I suppose though.

rincon wrote:M99 wrote:rincon wrote:It wasn't about Cersei. Everyone except Jon knows she won't give a crap about saving anyone but herself. It was about Dany and Tyrion. Neither actually believe Jon.
WTF it is about Cersei. Thats why Tyrion went to Kings Landing to speak to Jaime. Both Dany and Tyrion told Jon they believed him, they were just preoccupied with the war with Cersei more.
- Spoiler:
Man I kept my mouth shut because people kept crying about "book readers whining" but seeing as non book readers are saying it too, the writing has been absolutely terrible. Winterfell this episode was almost as bad as Dorne in season 5.
I never had a problem with "teleportation" because the writers said the timelines are not linear. But in this episode Gendry did an Usain Bolt and ran to Eastwatch to send a raven which got to Dany as fast as an email.
No it wasn't. No one that believes that an army of necromancers and undead is coming down to kill everyone cares about anything but that. No chance, unless you are completely mad, like Cersei.
The reality of the white walkers got shown from the first scene where the guy deserted the watch. Everyone that has come across them, or that believes it, drops absolutely everything but that. Wildlings, the watch, Jon, Mance, Melissandre, Beric, Thoros, even Stannis who 100% believed that he was the real king dropped everything and went north. The Hound took one look through the fire and went on a suicide mission. That's the guy said that "*bleep* the king" and has made being cynical about life, an art.
Tyrion, Dany, Varys and co. don't actually believe Jon. They sort of believe IN Jon (Tyrion mostly) but they don't actually accept what he is telling them. They let him mine dragonglass because it was a way to keep him busy and on their side, they even said it.
As they begin to believe Jon they pin needing proof on Cersei, but its also for them.
- Spoiler:
Dany even said at then end of ep 6. "I needed to see them". NOW she believes and understands.
Tyrion and Dany both say they believe Jon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCuE0YzIMco
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJnMJc6Xgs0
Tyrion himself suggests the plan saying the only way to make Cersei believe it is to make her see it. He went to Jaime to tell him about it. They have the upper hand over Cersei but are doing an armistice for it. Dany and co were skeptical but Cersei was the main issue and the main reason for the expedition.

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
Yes, Tyrion said so but he didn't really believe, or understand what it meant.
- Spoiler:
- after that he tried to stop Dany from going to the north and save Jon and co. If he understood what it meant to have the white walkers marching South amd lose the people that know how to fight it best, then he wouldn't go against it. Now Dany understands, she didn't before, she said it herself.
The change in tone in GoT when characters see dragons/WW is clear every time. Look at Jaime being nonchalant about war until he sees drogon and completely changes perspectives. He already had been told by everyone that Dany had dragons, but he hadn't come to understand what that meant. Same for the hound, or Thoros, or Jon.
Dany was the same before ep 6, then she very clearly changed her tune now that she saw them.
If Tyrion and Varys actually believed Jon before, they would have started to spin 100 plans of how to stop them. Instead they basically allowed Jon to *bleep* off, and in the off chance he is right, then they will have proof for everyone (cersei and Jaime)

Glory can you pls stop shitting on things for the sake of shitting on things. http://www.kanyetothe.com/forum/Smileys/default/rsz_tqharym.png
- Spoiler:
- Can't we just enjoy nice things as we have it. I'm not saying don't criticise the show, but every week a select group of you come on here badmouthing the same aspect of the show, and never talk about the cool stuff. Well, I guess I'll try to start a conversation on the good stuff.
As ever with GoT the tension is at its peak when we're north of the wall. Jon's initial escapade with the wildlings, Mance, even Bran's ventures, and of course Hardhome are top highlights of the show. Loved the action sequence in this episode of course.
Back at Winterfell, Arya had some great lines as well.
Dany is keeping up the good acting, and now she has experienced true loss for the first time, and she put in an OG rescue mission, so I can finally start appreciating her a bit more.
Admittedly, I got a bit put off by the major time hopping and "teleportation" in this episode as well, but we have to make the best of what we have. I mean they already decided they're going to wrap this up in 13/14 however episodes it is over this season and next season.

- Spoiler:
- I don't think the Gendry thing was as bad as suggested tbh. We all know they're very close to the wall.
They were probably waiting for the dragon and a way to bring the wall down, since it's still protected by magic.
We've seen how they walk around with swords dragging the ground. I'm sure they're feeling the ground looking for anywhere the horn might be.
Can anyone remember where Sam had the horn, and if there's any way to tell if it's close?

- Top Quotes from the episode:
- Arya: I knew what I was doing was against the rules, but he was smiling, so I knew it wasn't wrong. The rules were wrong. I was doing what I was meant to and he knew it.
The Hound: will you *bleep* off!
Jon: I'm the shield that guards the realms of men.
Lord of light man: Maybe we don't need to understand any more than that. Maybe that's enough.
Jon: Ay, maybe that's enough.
Arya: The world doesn't just let girls decide what they want to be. But I can now.
Dany: I had to see it to know. Now I know.

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
- Top Quotes from the episode:
- everything Tormund said
- ep 6 , talking about it:
- Planned on watching it today not to get spoiled , decided i couldn't risk it till next Monday . Guess what . Spoiled. Of course. My little cousin spoiled me first thing in the fkn morning. CANNOT believe my luck. Just FML.
He asked me a few days ago ( without even knowing episode 6 was leaked , he didn't have a clue he just saw it with me today ) if the White Walkers could possibly have a dragon. I don't even know wtf possessed him and even thought about this , but he asked me. I said i don't remember any instance of any dragon going that far up north in the books , so no . I said if they ever get any , it could only be one of Daenerys' dragons. Told him he'll be waiting like a year to find out anyway.
So he comes over at my place this morning , unexpected , along with my little bro and they quickly get spoiled in a youtube channel , don't even know where the stupid fks even found it , told me some random unkown nothing YT channel. I barely got the time to come over and say what's up , he screams "i knew it! , what did i tell you" in which case it hits me like a truck .
You cannot imagine how bad this felt. I only stopped yelling when i saw he felt bad about it. Thank fk for something though . I saw the ep after some hours ; Don't know which GURU taught me to control my short-term memories but i managed to bury it in my subconscious until Daenerys took off from Dragonstone . Had forgotten about it fully whilst watching , but it came to me again then. So thankfull for putting it somehow to rest up until that point . I never got it out of my head after this , until it happened and i knew exactly when it was about to begin too. I just can't believe my luck ffs .
EP WAS SPECTACULAR. 10/10. Haunting scenes at times , great banter on the road , kept me on the edge from the get go. But i should have experienced that glorious and tragic moment like it was meant to be experienced. This will haunt me for a while.

Basically everything Sandor and Tormund said. If you told back in the beginning when the hound killed the butcher boy that I would like this character so much, I wouldn't have believed it.

- Spoiler:
- The action really was insane. Rewatched it tonight since some friends were watching it for the first time. The tension from the bear attack to the moment Jon gets saved by Benjen is crazy. Its like a full 40 minutes of tension all the way through. The timing and whatever might be loose but that getting stuck on an island gambit was amazing. *bleep* terrifying.

- Spoiler:
- Never believed any of these theories about Tyrion. For me , Tywin's true son , for many reasons. If anything regarding these theories , i thought it would be Jaime and Cersei turning out Targaryens but even so , i don't think there's anything with them either.

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
- Spoiler:
- My favourite lines were when Tormund was talking about Brienne to the Hound!
The fire swords were epic. Everyone should just do that.
The suspense wasn't quite there for me because you knew Dany was coming (they shouldn't have had that Tyrion/Dany scene, there was no way Jon was going to die, and the ice dragon could be seen from a mile away. The only suspense was Thoros dying and Tormund almost dying.

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
- Spoiler:
- It's almost like the Night's King was waiting for the moment when a dragon would come. It's almost like he knew. Which brings me back to my question about why he didn't hit Drogon who was in front of him instead of Viscerion who was in the air and far away from him, harder to hit. Is there a reason? I get the feeling there's a shit ton of information we're going to find out about the Night's King next season and it's going to make us sympathize with the White Walkers.
For all the talk about wondering why they hadn't attacked the wall sooner,
they played the waiting game perfectly. Now they have a *bleep* ice dragon and can fly over the wall spitting ice or whatever. Not even sure how an ice dragon is supposed to work. The images before the season began that showed an ice dragon with the NK (not sure if they were official or fan mock ups)
were apparently correct. Incredible.
One more question:
- Spoiler:
- Why is Jon getting on a ship with Dany? Is he heading back to Dragonstone with her? Why? Makes no sense to me.
Shouldn't he be heading back to Winterfell? Or are they going to Winterfell together? Also, where the f**k is Rhaegal, that big pussy that ran away

- Yep they were definitely waiting because their is no way they could get past the wall....It's not a coincidence that the white walkers show up around the same time as dragons returning to the world.
