Yeah it's a ballista.
When Randyll Tarly asked what they were gonna do about dragons, Cersei or someone should've mentioned Meraxes and how it was killed by a random Dornish soldier.

Dany should take back Jorah as an advisor if Tyrion keeps failing, always gave her the best advice IMO

Victorian is a reasonably important character because then Victorian, Yara & Theon vs Euron would be more fun. Also Victorian is key because he shows you what Euron is. Euron rapes Victorian's wife & gets her pregnant, Victorian kills his wife to save the humiliation.
Euron also molests & abuses a lot of people including his brother, the priest. Flat out, one of the most charismatic & amazing characters in the entire play & way more interesting than Ramsay.
Euron (who is 1 eyed) has an amazing entry in the Kingsmoot with his full Valyrian steel armour & a giant huge horn called Dragonbinder which he found from the ruins of Valyria & which is supposed to tame dragons. They cut so many scenes & stuff & didn't build him up to the big fu*king deal he should be, like Ramsay was !

Because there are much bigger characters to attend to and this is TV where they're working with a budget, not a book where the budget of imagination is unlimited

Bigger characters like Grey Worm and Missandei?
They did a terrible job with Euron until last episode. Hope he gets even better.

Euron popped up in like episode 8 or 9 last season and you lot expect him to have the same level of character developments as characters who have been on the show for 4+ seasons? Not saying they didn't do an underwhelming job with him until S07E01 but come on now
EDIT: He first popped up in episode 2 last season. But till date, he has appeared in 5 episodes total. Let's not jump the gun there.

Wait wait.. I actually thought the direwolf scene with Arya was meant to symbolise that she isn't "Arya Stark" anymore, causing her to perhaps change plans again and head for Kings Landing after all.

I could not care more about that shoehorned romance, even if he did deliver a nice speech

So you're saying you did care a lot about the "shoehorned romance" then?

It was a terrible scene. End of.
That's an interesting take.

I think it'll take down one dragon. Obvious set up for a dragon getting reanimated by the Night King. Probably Viserion.

Need to look into changing my avatar too, fully expecting the writers to shit on Littlefinger this season after this ep by having him do uncharacteristically sloppy things and then kill him off

Pretty lame if a dragon dies to a damn ballista so it can be turned by the NK.
Was expecting more a dragon dying to the WW and it getting turned.

Also if a dragon dies to team Cersei then that means the WW has to get far south to turn it or?

How would the WW kill a dragon though? I know they're pretty much immune to fire but I don't see how they can reach a dragon enough to kill it. Unless they have enough super strength to throw one of their ice spears at one.

Remember Dany's vision in the House of the Undying?
Might have something to do with it.

If a ballista works any giant with a bow can take down a dragon tbh.

The giants are wights though. All the dragon has to do is burn the pos before he even lifts anything

Re: GAME OF THRONES - PART 8 - *NO BOOK TALK - READ THE RULES*
But a dragon isn't going to sneak attack so you're assuming the giant would just wait for the dragon to burn him I guess a giant actually has a better reach than a dragon considering he easily shot a guy on the of the wall.
Thinking about it the giant with the bow was so OP when the arrow hit the guy it still carried more force than an arrow shot by a ballista does at any point.

Bad excuse for a bad angle. They gave huge time to Ramsay & stretched him on & on. They created meaningless plotlines for Sansa & gave him huge time when she isn't a big character. The Dornish storyline was crap. Ironborne & the Kingsmoot should have been in S5 itself. It is a key storyline, Cersei-Euron vs Dan (w Jon) & the Ramsay-Sansa-Dorne & ofcourse the Greyworm-Missandei stuff could have been cut out.
You need 1-2 minutes in 3 or 4 episodes in a season to build a character. They did 80 minute odd episodes. They could have easily stretched out the 50-55 minute initial episodes by 1 or 2 minutes.
It is important for S7 going forward. You either cut the storyline or if you do it, do it decent. Now it feels half baked, Euron is a huge ally of Cersei with no investment.

The only people crying about this are book readers. Just like you lot have cried about a billion other things about the show. D & D have successfully taken the books and turned it into the greatest show in the history of TV so how about we let them handle it how they see fit, ehy? If they decide that Euron is not as big a character for the entirety of the show as Sansa is then so be it. By my count, the only thing they've actually messed up at is the Dorne/Sand Snakes storyline and it wasn't even that bad.
Is it actually possible for book readers to go an entire season without complaining about one thing or the other? Christ.

All readers of anything are obnoxious once it's turned into live-action. It's better to leave it alone. Never satisfied and most are unable to seperate things.
Same happens with comic book readers all the time. Comic books do weird stuff, but once movies differ just 5% they're mad as shit.

Jesus, the slightest criticism of this show and Barrett comes defending like it's his newborn baby. Euron looked great when he killed Balon on his first appearance but then he got pretty bad at that terrible Kingsmoot and then showing up like a drunk washed up rockstar on Kings Landing. Last episode he came of as a badass.
Also he really should have been introduced on season 5 and fleshed out more. D&D cut out the entire Ironborn storyline to make room for Dorne (which was absolutely terrible, EVERYONE agrees on that) and then put it on season 6 after the backlash on Dorne made them give the storyline only two episodes.

It's a bit more understandable with comics because most of those characters have decades and decades of history in comics, some even as early as the 1930's. They're not characters that just popped up in one storyline from one book series. Also, I think comic book fans for years were just happy to see the characters portrayed on screen because lord knows we got tons of terrible shows and movies. It's only now in this golden age where we're spoilt for options that there's been some whining.

They also completely cut out other major characters and storylines from the books. They can't do everything. They can't follow every book plot line. It's only 10 episodes a season and the budget is $60m. You'll be surprised how quickly that can burn. They didn't do Lady Stoneheart (which would have been great tv) either. If they had gone with Euron initially instead of the Sand Snakes and they messed it up the way they messed up the Sand Snakes, you most likely would have been asking why they didn't do the Sand Snakes instead of Euron.
The show is not flawless but I'm tired of book readers whining about 1001 things as if it's a second grade show. It's actually quite annoying.

And I'm tired of people like you brushing of legit criticism of the show as book readers whining. No one complained about Tyrion and Daenerys meeting on season 5 instead of waiting for 1000 years, Penny being cut, Hound vs Brienne fight, Arya/Tywin replacing Arya/Roose so yeah book readers don't complain about every single change contrary to popular belief. There are complaints when the show does something bad. Are you honestly saying that fleshing out Euron more would have been impossible?
The show is not flawless and you certainly act like it evidenced by jumping at posts that has the slightest criticism on it, by book readers and non book readers.
