looks like Liverpool are serious about getting naby keita this summer and will need to smash the club transfer record to get him but is he worth it. £60mil plus addons is a crazy sum of money and tbh I don't know anything about the player so how good is this guy.

Really good imo. The complete package; work rate, creativity, goals, technique, intelligence, etc.

Great signing for Liverpool if this happen.

Of course he is not 'worth' 70m € but then again the more often we say this the clearer it becomes it makes no sense to proclaim a player 'not worth x' when x is quite apparently his going rate.

Laimer was basically Keita's successor in the Salzburg team after Keita moved to Leipzig last season.

The possibility of Leipzig letting Keita go certainly did not get smaller with this transfer.

I just want to ****ing sign him, I'm fed up trying to find the smart buy who's ultimately the wrong buy, this guy is clearly a super talent, is hyped around Europe, and looks perfect for our team, and Klopp wants him. Let's stop ****ing around and just sign him, It'll be a massive statement for the club and he'll undoubtedly improve us.

He is a player who will improve our shit midfield 10 times and will take us somewhat close to our rivals.

The price is completely insane, of course. Personally, I'd want my club to wait and see whether Keita confirms his performances, now also in CL.

Finally in the CL and Klopp knows every previous manager has failed to capitalize on progress. He's not looking back. Filling the cracks with directly cement here rather than paper.

He seems generally to put a lot of trust in former Red Bull Salzburg/Roger Schmidt/Rangnick project players who have learned the pressing and transition game.

It worked out well with Mané, not so much with Kampl at BVB.

Keita last season was wonderful, a midfielder who does everything and well - defending, creating, passing, dribbling, tackling, running, scoring.

But it really is not a very long record to rely on.
Leipzig are moving upwards, have no money problem and Keita has a long term contract, they don't need and want to sell so they can quote a ridiculous price.

If you want him badly you'll just have to pay it. It's not like you lack funds either.

In that case however, it would be best if fans don't connect the transfer sum to some notion of how the player is supposed to perform ("win games on his own" or some such shit).
It should be merely considered as the sum you had to afford to get the player you wanted.

its pretty ridiculous money but at least those 2 are sure to improve Liverpool a lot. Salah is a guarantee, Keita needs to confirm his level.
