Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Saw the Meyer stuff, but no link to a report or anything. Was it said on TV or something?

Yeah I think someone just made that up and added @Bild to a tweet

Anyway, Giroud to Chelsea will be confirmed soon. There's a bit of noise about David Luiz coming the other way but I think it's just betting companies trying to attract bets.

Hearing whispers (nothing concrete) Arsenal have been exploring possibility of signing David Luiz from Chelsea as part of Giroud deal - as per @DavidWoodsStar yesterday - or Roma’s Kostas Manolas. Would be one or other, no idea if it will happen. Defence a clear concern #AFC #CFC

Jay29 wrote:Hate that about transfer windows. You can just make an official looking tweet and add any source to it and people spread it around without checking if it's real.

Nach unseren Infos scoutete #Arsenal #Meyer von #Schalke - dazu beschäftigt sich #Barca mit ihm. Alles dazu in der neuen @SPORTBILD #S04
— Torsten Rumpf (@TorstenRumpf) 31. Januar 2018
It's a reporter from SportBild.
However, he's merely saying that according to their info Arsenal have scouted him.
Not especially huge news for an out of contract German NT youngster.

I'm imagining a back three of Koscielny, Mustafi and Luiz and dying of laughter.

There's no post on it as it's a preview/teaser to tomorrow's SportBild edition. "Read all about it in the new SportBild.."
The info is Arsenal scouts were present at Schalke's loss vs Leipzig. Basically nothing to see here.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ornstein: "Alexis Sanchez had an altercation with Laurent Koscielny in training last season and that was factually correct. I know from a number of people who saw it."
Ornstein on Alexis: "He wasn't very popular. He didn't socialise with a lot of guys, he kept himself to himself with Atom and Humber. It was notable that there were no farewell messages from his teammates."
Ornstein: "I was told by a couple of people that Arsenal didn't make Alexis Sanchez a contract offer. They knew what he would've wanted and knew that they couldn't come near it."
Ornstein: "I was told that Real Madrid expressed an interest and Sanchez would've liked that but realistically Man Utd was the only option."
Ornstein on Aubameyang: "I've got no doubt that the Bournemouth match probably caused them to push the button and pursue that pretty urgently."
Ornstein: "Things are improving on the negotiations front with the behind-the-scenes revamp but they were known to be the laughing stock of European football when it came to negotiations."
Ornstein: "Arsenal tried to bring in a midfielder late in the summer window and there wasn't enough time. I heard nothing about a holding midfielder in this window."
Ornstein: "I was Elneny would've been made available for transfer last summer if there was a reasonable offer but more recently I've been told they're looking at giving him a new contract."
Ornstein: "I was told that these people [Mislintat, Sanllehi etc.] are seeing these new signings as laying the foundations for the start of bringing Arsenal back to being seriously competitive for major honours and that's going to take a year or two."
Ornstein: "We got an understanding that Arsenal were offering a much better package to Jonny Evans than Man City were. They were trying to get someone in at the last minute."

But more seriously, do you guys think this negotiation team revamp could be the start of something new at Arsenal?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
He's 27 and one of our most experienced players too btw. That's not merit enough in itself; Theo Walcott had been at Arsenal even longer. However, it does count when he clearly has a place in the team whenever he's fit.
The issue has always been management and tactics. I don't feel we'll get the best out of Ramsey (or at least address our lack of midfield protection for the defense) without a more defensive-minded midfielder alongside him which Xhaka clearly is not.
