Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
hope we get good money for AOC
offloading Mustafi would be great too
Not bothered if we sign anyone
in fact transfer ban as long as Wenger is in charge would be nice

Bin him and sign an actual right back imo.
Is Bellerin not an actual RB?!

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Unfortunately Bellerin can't backup Bellerin. We have no other right backs in the squad, except for Debuchy. Hence Chamberlain happened to end up there (well, right wing back specifically).

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Any half decent RWBs available out there?
Or is it gonna be Theo there next? Wouldn't put it past AW anymore.
Ox is probably worth 100k p/w at best. LOL @ 180.

How can the problem be solved if Aurier isn't allowed to enter the UK, let alone acquire a work permit

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I genuinely think there's internal conflict at Arsenal atm between Wenger and StatsDNA, the stats company that Arsenal own.
Wenger gave an interview recently where he said the future of management will be that the manager won't pick the team anymore and will be second fiddle to analysts and scientists. It sounds very similar to his griping about a Director of Football. Whenever some new thinking comes in that threatens his decision making, he gets anxious.
Arsenal signed a few players based on the data from StatsDNA: Gabriel, Elneny, Lucas, Xhaka and Mustafi.
Gabriel barely played as was sold. Elneny barely played and was allowed to leave this summer (he chose to stay). Lucas barely played and is being sold. Xhaka didn't play initially and Wenger thought he was a B2B mid. Now we have this stuff about Mustafi being sold.
It could be a case of these players just not being good enough, but that in itself is a problem because Wenger must have approved of them in the first place. So either he doesn't trust the stats at all or is making a power play.
In any case, it's totally mad what's happening at the club now. Chamberlain and Mustafi could be sold and there's nothing about replacements coming in with five days left in the window. Unless there's some masterplan that nobody knows about it, it's going to be a rough season.

No expectation of major Arsenal incomings. Sense they'd rather wait to see if Lemar/Van Dijk became feasible next year than go down list now

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Selling a starting CB because a CB we might look into signing could be available next summer
Basically writing this season off because our plan A didn't work and we had no contingency in place to strengthen the squad.
And it's not like we'd be selling Mustafi for what we paid for him (although he had a season and a lot of players typically need one to adjust to a new league and defense, so this season would be much more telling than his debut one) but we'd be loaning him out and giving them an option to buy him. So if Inter don't make it a permanent deal, we just offloaded an important first team member for the season for the Goddamn lolz.
Two years ago we signed Cech and not another damn soul and this summer is still worse because of how we conducted ourselves after signing Kolasinac and Laca.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Selling a starting centre back days before the end of the window is farcical enough. But not replacing him with anyone? That's outright negligent.
My position when Wenger signed a new deal was that there was nothing I could do and would do my best to support the team. But here we are on the verge of sabotaging our own season through someone's incompetence.
I really only care about a few players now. *bleep* the rest.

No point signing any new players as long as Wenger in charge. All the players that want leave, should leave this window, Ozil, Sanchez, Mustafi and Oxlade.
Only Wenger should stay at club.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'm not going to pretend that losing AOC doesn't bother me, but let's reflect on a few facts:
- he was more often than not shit for us until the tail end of last season when converted to a RWB. While better at attacking than Bellerin, he's a worse defender and using Bellerin at RWB is really not much of a step down if any at all.
- he's on high wages that we apparently need to clear up.
- we could lose him for free next summer if we don't sell him now.
- Reiss-Nelson looked spectacular at RWB in pre-season and Wenger has complained about having too big of a squad to give chances to youngsters, so presumably he would slot right in and now be given the chance he deserves.
^Maitland-Niles, Chambers and Coquelin can also cover the position.
I overall do not see us being too depleted by his loss. What I am more concerned about is selling to a direct rival and strengthening Chelsea. If we must sell the Ox, fine, there are reasonable pros to doing it, but why must we consistently strengthen our rivals? It's madness.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
As for Mustafi:
He started last season very well and then was a key culprit in our mid season capitulation. I don't think Wenger trusts him, yet he seems to place significant trust in Monreal at CB and Holding who have been horrifying so far this campaign.
The fact that Wenger trusts guys who are consistently playing like trash while Mustafi and Mertesacker are struggling to get a start is baffling. If we were to sell Mustafi, I don't know that we have even 3 CBs who I trust not to cost us games on a regular basis. We could use another experienced CB before selling him - without him, we're done. No defence to speak of. I can't see any positives of such a move at all and trust me, I've been trying.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Lots of stuff happening this morning.
Wenger reportedly had a meeting with the squad to see who wants to leave.
John Cross (Mirror) and James Ducker (Telegraph) both reporting that City will offer cash + Sterling for Alexis.
T13 (Chilean source, I think) reporting that Alexis has requested he be allowed to leave Chile's training camp for 24 hours to sort out a personal issue.
Arsenal have denied any "formal bid" from City. United apparently want Alexis as well now.
Sky sources saying Arsenal will sell Chamberlain to Chelsea for £35m. Apparently he still wants to move to Liverpool.
Mustafi has agreed to join Inter. Arsenal want £35m, either now or at the end of a loan.
West Brom are back in for Gibbs. Arsenal agreed £7m with Watford, but personal terms are holding the deal up.

Imagine selling Sanchez, Ox, and Mustafi - and two of those to our supposed rivals - 2 days before the window ends and with no replacements
