Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
VAR has to be figured out, if people dont understand that it's a process that will get better overtime, it's their problem. But this is 2017, we can't continue in this sports going with games were goals scored offside are accepted because the line ref did not do his job. There is a higher justice now.
Stop crying about VAR, this is important for equity in sports in general.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
This is why I'm against this shit... holy shit this is bad. Hopefully VAR is dead now.
There is still a ref in the other side making mistakes here. What is that call ffs... you can't overturn a call without 100% proof even in NBA and NFL

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Even if we wasn't inside there's no 100% clear evidence of him not being. They can't change a decision on guess work...
So done with this shit

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Didn't some dork invent an offside-detecting contraption some 8-10 years ago? whatever happened to that? looks like a better alternative to VAR now.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Not gonna watch any game with this anymore. Ruins goals for me. Can't celebrate any goal before the ref has gone through their shit minutes.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
To Nick's point, it was the right call.
Still, there must be a way to improve this process, the delay is absolutely cancerous.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
thank you, i want some apologies from you all above. it's an actual referee in the box judging the goall through video evidence.farfan wrote:To Nick's point, it was the right call.

Also how difficult is it to have a Camera perfectly perpendicular to the pitch? lol

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Interesting to see those that remember the past Confed cups like 2009, definitely much better than this one. Not looking good for Russia atm next years WC... although pretty sure WC will be totally different atmosphere.
Didnt get to watch all of this match but certainly not bad of one the second half I watched. Mexico added time equaliser And Pepe's denied LOOOOL!!! Andre Gomes, still shouldnt be a Barca starter ffs as shown.
Waiting to see how good Chile and Germany look in the next few days.
And to see those VAR, it does feel weird. Although I think technology certainly needs to be used to cut out some of those terrible ref mistakes. The goal line tech has been immensely beneficial to the game. The next additions will need time to get fine tuned it seems, in the end I hope they work out for the better and dont disrupt the game like it did a bit today.

So funny to still see people doubt it, football is finally fair again.

I am definitely not sold on VAR. They cant use it for every decision ffs. It kills the spontaneity

Spontaneity lmaooo, why don't we play without referees at all, that will surely create more drama for you people.

I think we can all agree on that it needs to be improved and be faster especially.

It's a process of trial and error. Fifa will collect what's wrong with VAR and make it better
Sotry but this type of stuff is needed in this sport. It won't be perfect the first time

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
I work in IT so I tend to lean towards potential innovation like VAR. So was the tennis version, and the NFL version and so on. Technology like this is rarely perfect at first launch. Will take time to refine, just like just about anything else.
As for the Mexico-Portugal game.....Moreno looking more and more like a brilliant piece of business from Monchi. Watched the game specifically for him and continue to feel at ease with what he'll bring to our defense. I think he's going to rack up card if he doesn't stop trying those weird half-slides though.

Bullshit, referee mistakes are one of the worst things of this sport.

It's a smart move, gives their players a much needed break before the WC
