Pls go

- Spoiler:
- the lead actor just sticking his hand into a zombie's mouth instead of throwing him off. They could atleast have made it believable if they wanted him to die.
Also the "bad guy" was too much of a sleaze to be believable. Instead of closing doors he decided to throw people at zombies... Didn't make any sense. Sloppily made.

Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets
A stunning movie visually, as expected. I saw it in 3D naturally for that reason. The world-building of this flick is amazing. The montage of how far humanity came in space travel and alien contact at the beginning was great. The introduction to the major species as well as Alpha (the main planet) was also great. The plot itself was ok. Like with Avatar, it was more of a cautionary tale of how humanity are their own worst enemies and how that impacts other species.
The acting was poor honestly. Dane Dehaan is simply not a good lead for a movie like this. No charisma, no comedic timing on his lines. Both he and Cara Delevingne looked rather bored most of this movie. Their eyes looked so dead and lifeless. The romantic scenes were simply cringe. Rihanna's small part was also horrid. When she's invested in a role (like with "Home") she can do really well, but in this....just no. Awful. Her character was quite simply offensive. Clive Owen, who was supposed to anchor this cast, was decidedly average. I think it's down to how his character is written though as he's typically not a cowardly or even comedic actor in his roles. This just wasn't a good fit for him.
Overall, this was definitely a Besson movie. A passion project for him surely. It will probably do well in Europe and other places internationally, but here in the States, it bombed horrifically. Personally and despite that, I really want to like this movie because of the world building and visuals, but the acting and weak writing prevents it unfortunately.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
You know the movie was good when people were crying after they left.
My god that was such an intense experience. Its a top 3 Nolan film for me easily. Glad I spent the cash on 70mm IMAX but jesus was it loud. Swear it was louder than the Kendrick concert.

- Spoiler:
- When Harry Styles tells the blind man what he is congratulating them for holy shit.
"We just survived"
"Thats enough"
That torpedo scene and Gibson's death
Entire theatre's sigh of relief when Farrier (Tom Hardy) took down the plane with no fuel.
And wow the timelines were so well done. Amazing work by Bolan, so far the best film of the year.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Main takeaway from the film is that Tom Hardy is the greatest actor alive.
This movie almost didn't make me feel any emotion at all though, and I can't see myself rewatching it.

Completely agreed. There were no emotions in that film (apart from
Agreed about Tom Hardy. Amazing actor.
I'll watch it again though after I get Nolan collection whenever they decide to release it. Maybe I missed something in the first watch.
Right now, this is my ranking of the films I have seen of his.
1) The Dark Knight
2) Inception
3) Interstellar/The Dark Knight rises
4) The Dark Knight rises/Interstellar
5) Dunkirk
Interested to see which film out of TDK, Inception and Interstellar M99 rates below Dunkirk Also need EG and ES to watch it asap

1. Inception
2. Memento
3. Dunkirk
4. TDK
5. The Prestige
6. TDKR
7. BB
8. Interstellar
9. Insomnia
10. The Following
Also completely disagree on there being no emotion. The fisherman and his son's storyline on the boat with Cillian Murphy was even more emotional than Tom Hardy's arc.
Same with the young lads on the beach.

- Spoiler:
- When the kid tells Cillian Murphy that the boy he knocked out is gonna be alright just after he died. He didn't want the death weighing in on his conscience after everything he went through. Almost destroyed me. And the part where he is hailed a hero on the newspaper.
Same with the young lads on the beach.
- Spoiler:
- Fake Gibson dying protecting British soldiers after he nearly got killed for being French was sad as f. Then as I mentioned the scene with the blind old man was heartbreaking.
Also that line by Harry Styles "We let you down, didn't we?"
So little dialogue but so impactful. Prefer this over the waves of exposition in Interstellar.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Going to see it this weekend. The only uncertainty still is whether I'll go see it in IMAX. Obviously I would like to, but from my intensive online research it seems like the only IMAX theatre here is on the other side of the city, so I'd like to go with someone but I got so much pos "friends" I have no faith in any of them committing to it.
But if that doesn't work out I'll just go see it at a normal huge screen at my usual place.

Edge of Tomorrow
Bourne Series
Bourne is amaaazing, It'll be difficult to adjust to the absence of Matt Damon in the 4th but the 4 movies are worth it ( The 4th has Rachel Weisz and she runs in it as well so WORTH IT )
Edge of tomorrow is great as well, Had a crush on Emily Blunt for 3 days after that.

It's not that he doesn't like action movie. He only likes one very specific kind of movie

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to say that I've seen Fences yesterday. For me, it deserves a ten. It got very emotional after 30 mins and in the end I cried. For me, the acting was perfect.
Last week I saw Casino (8/10), Going in Style (6/10), Natural Born killers (7/10), The People vs Larry Flynt (7/10), Trainspotting 2 (6/10), My Own Private Idaho (8/10), Victoria (the one with the berliners and the cute girl - 7/10, had something special) & Miles Ahead (about Miles Davis' life - 7/10, very good movie, would recommend it to anybody into jazz/biographies).
Next movies & documentaries on my list are: Apocalypse Now, Once Upon a Time in the West, La La Land, Deep Web, Inside Job, The Salt of the Earth, Dear Zachary
I would appreciate your opinion regarding my watchlist, especially if you have anything notable to mention about any of the films listed above.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Just came back from Dunkirk, agreed with RG. This is probably Nolan's worst film, the movie felt very pretentious at times. But thats the least of my concern, like most, i had an extremely hard time hearing the dialogue, but that is usually forgiven if the music is amazing. It wasn't in this one, not for me at least.
Also, i hope Nolan steers clear from realism and real life stuff, his movie are best when there are element of fiction or sci fi in it.
