Re: The Movie House - Part 10
The last hour of that film is laughably made and doesn't fit the first hour which is really great. Suddenly every character turns retarded started laughing at all the decisions.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Back from Dunkirk
I am not sure how to say this without being a hipster. And you all know how much I love Nolan so I am really not being a hipster
But this is probably Nolan's least impressive film.
It was good but nothing more. Quite underwhelming. There was no substance. The film is something which should be showed in schools as a history lesson. Maybe he wanted it to be just that?
Don't get me wrong, the direction was flawless as you would expect. But everything else was just there. Film felt like a silent film at times but without any story telling.
Sound track was awful. You couldn't hear half the dialogues at times. Zimmer wasn't a good choice for this one IMO.
There weren't any characters in the film apart from one or two. Tom Hardy is best part of the film by a mile. And he had like 5 dialogues without exaggeration. Cillian Murphy was good too.
7/10

The out of sync timelines was really well done

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Dunkirk is
- Spoiler:
- an exceedingly good film with some unreal set pieces and a BGM that's simply grandiose. But its not the best war film till date or anything like its being touted.
Its a spectacle? yes. Its a spectacular film? yea kindof. 8.5

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
I think the problem is Nolan is fixated on the same sort of soundtrack for every movie he makes. Soundtrack in itself is really good and majestic, but I agree, his selection is pretty poor. It felt like Dark Knight Rises and Inception all over again.
Should have gone with an entirely different treatment.

Music felt overused and didn't fit the tone of the film at all half the time. I'll put this in a spoiler tag but this isn't as spoiler
- Spoiler:
It was really annoying that every scene had this insanely tense music but the scene was just a generic scene. It was unnecessary. happened repeatedly

I kind of understand that the tense and loud music was to show
- Spoiler:
- the ticking of time and impending sense of danger that could practically strike any time.
- SPOILERS:
- its the forced nature of some of the scenes. There was drama just for the sake of drama. We do feel claustrophobia and tension. But its not free flowing and natural. Especailly towards the end of the film. First hour or so was really really good. Then felt like gradually the director was loosing grip.
Highlight obviously were the scenes in the air. Tom Hardy without showing his face for like 98% of the time stole the show lol. Scenes on the ground were mixed. Some were just brilliant. A few others were clumsy.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
28 days later - 0/5 imo. Worst movie ever. First one to enter my jobber tier.
jk
Was good imo, 4/5. Felt like the first episode of TWD. Surprised there isn't a part 2, 3, 4 etc.

It's a predictable generic space horror. I don't know what the hell Gyllenhaal and Reynolds were doing in it.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Just came back from War for the Planet of the Apes. Loved the visuals, decent pacing, good performances and a surprsingly different direction and tone to the movie from what I expected.
I have faith in Matt Reeves heading into the new Batman trilogy. Looks like he can pull of darkness as well.
Caeser as ever was very good and a highlight, Woody was a good surprising anti-hero/villain as well. The emotional theme and ending was the best way to wrap up the trilogy I guess. Never been a huge fan of this franchise like some of you here, although I have a soft spot for Rise because it didn't have as much warfare as the other two I suppose. So for me it really didn't blow me away or anything, I wouldn't excitedly go to my mates and talk about it, and I won't go back to watch it again. But good is good. 3.5/5
