In fact, last 3-4 years at Bayern it has been exactly the other way around

Re: Thiago Alcantara Appreciation Thread
A player who never lived up to the hype. He was brought by Guardiola to exert his style on the Germans but was injured for a long period of his tenure and has been going downhill together with a declining Bayern.
His performances for Spain have also been lukewarm.

Re: Thiago Alcantara Appreciation Thread
Obviously he's off the radar to most of you clowns as Bayern players are notoriously underrated, but I think it's not audacious to say he's consistently been among the very best, if not the best, central midfielders over the last 3-4 years

One of my favorite players ever, still, despite his relative shortcomings related to his unbelievable potential at a young age.

Got lucky there imo, in EPL some random Brexit lad would have broken his leg in half and then proceeded to pressurise ref for a card for simulation.

What a player.
A gift, a privilege, to be able to watch such a player regularly.
Unbelievable game yesterday, one of the most elegant players I have seen. Talk about the beautiful game. An artist.
And then on top of that, his tackles

Re: Thiago Alcantara Appreciation Thread
Liverpool and Bayern have to find a solution for Thiago. Personal terms are not a problem - Thiago wants to join Liverpool. But #LFC don’t want to spend €30M when they can sign him for free in 5 months... it’s up to the clubs.

Bayern are the most low tolerance club when it comes to player sales. In this occasion however, they are bluffing.

can't believe how easily they let go players.

Very likely his last game in the Bayern jersey tonight.
It makes me very, very sad that he's leaving.
He's one of a kind, there's no one else out there like him.

The way he moves with and passes the ball is very unique. I've never seen any player quite like him.

welcome to Liverpool Thiago
the wait is over. I hope we get at least 2 best seasons out of him.

he's a proper ball playing midfielder, has every single quality you want from the perfect midfielder and you could see the signs since his youth days in the Spain U21 and Barca team. That's why I was so surprised when Barca let him go because i always saw him as Xavi's successor.
However, I wouldn't say he is unique. There have been many great allround midfielders before him.

He reminds me of Pirlo more than Xavi these days tbh. Especially considering he plays deeper at the base rather than as an 8.

Re: Thiago Alcantara Appreciation Thread
the way he plays, its very hard to get player of his calibre if he leaves but, i trust bayern's ability get replacement or Corentin Tolisso i guess can paly there too

Re: Thiago Alcantara Appreciation Thread
I never saw him as Xavi in any form given he is indeed closer to Pirlo than anything and probably the closest thing to Pirlo since the man himself.
Blessed with immense talent since the beginning and it was staggering how Pep refused to raise and use him.
Fortune favoured Thiago from the start anyway.
Had the option play for
Spain
Italy
Brazil
before he chose his team of course.

i can see that, yes.
what i meant by my comment though is as Xavi's successor to having the key's to the throne of Barca's midfield, not necessarily comparing his qualities' to Xavi's

Yeah, I'm aware that's what you meant. I was just referring to their styles because it's a frequent comparison.
I used to say he was like a mix of Ronaldinho and Xavi lol. Has that samba flair combined with that Spanish technique.
