We shot ourselves in the foot, tito. The first mistake was adopting a conservative approach. We let Sevilla gain momentum and control the flow of the game. We didn't come to attack them. This was a Rafa-esque approach, regardless of the formation.

When we played them in the Bernabeu we made sure to suffocate them with relentless pressing and take the game to their own half.

Tonight, with this damn 3-5-2, the attackers got isolated and were content with defending against Sevilla's attacks.

Then, and even though the approach wasn't clearly working, we didn't change it, nor did we use our subs.

It was an embarrassing performance.

We threw away the three points, and you have every right to feel pissed off.

Bankz seems to have amazing short-term jinxing prowess but I'm not sure if his long-term jinxing skill can compete.

i have no problem with playing conservatively, especially away from home. but the fact that our team can just go rogue when discipline is supposed to be the buzz word down the stretch is scary. the league is one thing, but in something like ucl where every tiny detail matters, such mistakes will most likely not go unpunished

i wasn't blaming zidane, i was blaming the players for going rogue and forgetting what it is they were supposed to do late on, which was to be disciplined and extremely focused

I respect his opinion, but I disagree.

The approach was the heart of the problem. The blunders were the result of Sevilla pressing us.

When you cower in your own half and become content with just defending, you're bound to make mistakes.

If Benzema, Ramos and Navas hadn't made those mistakes, somebody else would have, because Sevilla was pressing the living hell out of us.

Just try to remember the way we played in the CDR first leg, then compare it with the one we played tonight.

Z had the entire first half to realize that the approach wasn't working, and that aside from that controversial penalty, we were struggling to create chances up front. He could've made his subs and change the dynamics of the game. But he stubbornly stuck with it.

Now, of course the players are definitely to blame for those blunders. But let's not act as if this result would've been the same had we played like we did in the first leg of the CDR.

I just don't see how an awful set piece defending action and a GK standing by the post is the fault of our approach.
