Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be my preferred choice but the connection and the inevitable comparisons with GoT will make this quite unlikely.

Mads Mikkelsen would be my second choice but is he too big of an actor for such a project?

They'll always be GoT comparisons, they'll be completely stupid and utterly threadbare but i guarantee they'll be made.

Like people constantly make comparisons to Blade Runner with other Film Noir sci fi stuff despite the fact the comparisons are utterly minuscule.

Yeah, in the books he’s described as having a deep guttural voice due to the mutagenic compounds.

Yeah I get that but I think it's a non issue, Mikkelsen also has a similar deep voice and most male actors can go low if they want to.

Anson Mount would be my choice as I wrote when they announced it. Really like him in this type of role. He's also young enough to still do stunts.

So I just finished binging 'Sacred Games'

Wow

Best crime drama I have seen since True Detective S1 (Nothing alike, just comparing the standard). Ridiculously good. The characters and specially the main character(Gaitonde) gives an Emmy worthy performance. In the end you just wanted to hear him tell his story. The other actors are all fantastic too.

Great story. Directing is something you'd see from high level hollywood directors (Could see Scorcese's influence in parts). Screenplay is 10/10. Dialogues, sub plots etc. All amazing.

Elite level show imo. But might be hard to get into for some since it's foreign. Definitely watch it subbed if you can.

9.5/10

can't wait for season 2. That cliff hinger at the end...

Cavill is an incredible get for this project. I had actual doubt about them getting a movie star for this project. So this must mean they're putting serious money into it.

He's one of the biggest stars right now. And him playing a deadpan hero like Geralt fits perfectly to his acting, no matter what your opinion of his overall talent is.

You should watch Mission Impossible. Think that shows off a lot of what he could do in the role. His physical acting is 100% up to par. Also helps that he's a huge nerd also.

Seriously, he is the last person you would imagine as Geralt. Still gonna give him a chance of course but it feels like he got casted just because of profile.
