Nothing happens in that game. You get told what to do at the beginning and thats it.
Dark Souls and Bloodborne have very interesting lore, it's just buried. Legit read a 90 page dissertation on Bloodborne.

Its lore but it isn't story. As in nothing actually happens during the course of the game. You get told to ring the two bells and kill the 4 dudes at the beginning and that's it for the story. No one actually reacts to you personally, everything just waits around for you to kill it. I loved dark souls 1 and demons souls, but there is no story there whatsoever.

I disagree. Also NPC questlines in DS1 and Demon's Souls were interesting.

Re: General Games Discussion
It was a very interesting setting I agree, they made a cool world with a great atmosphere and a few very interesting side tales. No real events happen in the games main plot besides killing the big bad guy though.
How would you summarize the plot of Demons Souls?
I love the game btw, its just that the main plot is basically "the world is screwed, go kill the archdemons". It was basically a placeholder to give us an excuse to play so that we could enjoy the other aspects of it.

Re: General Games Discussion
Is it still considered being burnt out when you haven't touched any game in a month and still don't feel like playing anything?
Think either I have become an adult or I have lost interest in gaming.

This was me for like 9 months

FFXV brought me back. Now I'm back in gaming finally. I got Nioh and pokemon sun after FF.

Re: General Games Discussion
I think it's fair to describe Demon's Souls they way you have but Dark Souls definitely has a story. You get thrust into some grand adventure and told to defeat bosses, but you meet many characters throughout your journey that have cool little stories tied to the world and said bosses, most are directly influenced by choices you make in game. You meet the serpents who both have their own agenda and try to manipulate you to fulfill their goals. It goes about telling it's story in a different way (one that has been copied by a few games since) but there's definitely story there, it just makes you work for it.

Re: General Games Discussion
surprised you didn't get Bloodborne before Nioh, Rincon? since you like the Souls games. It's absolutely the best of the Fromsoftware games IMO. Second best game this gen, and fairly cheap now. Has the best story too.

Re: General Games Discussion
Personally thought DS2 had a fantastic lore and was actually a proper story too. A bit less vague than DS1.
Bloodborne is an all time great game imo.

Re: General Games Discussion
I was bit burned out from all the souls games so I waited on Bloodborne. Like I mentioned I was burned out from gaming in general.
Final Fantasy>everything for me though so it brought me back
I also need to play Uncharted 4 since I love the series, but I'm looking for more fresh experiences.
That's why I picked Nioh, "familiar" so I knew I'd like it but still a fresh new series.

the second boss is generally thought to be VERY hard, one of the hardest in the game apparently
I summoned for it lol
That was a really fun fight. Beat her maybe in my 6th or 7th try. The mission itself was harder for me. Paralysis protection + omnyo + ninjutsu + arrows did it. Really enjoyed having to use all sorts of things.

I definitely recommend Yakuza 0 if you're looking for something different, Rincon. It's a game you'll either hate or love, but if you do like it, you get a shit ton of content for your money. The main story is very good, and by itself it offers around 40 hours of playtime. Tons of great substories, mini-games and sidequests that aren't the "fetch" kind, too. It's the perfect introduction to the Yakuza series, for anyone who hasn't played it before. I've been having a blast playing it, so far. I'm already looking forward to the next Yakuza game, which comes out next year.

Thanks for the recommendation. Sadly Yakuza is not for me. Beat em ups like that just don't anything for me. Skipped the old Yakuzas for the same reason. The setting itself is not too attractive either for me either. I love me some feudal Japan, but modern day stuff isn't gonna make me grind through the gameplay.

I'll most likely get Nioh eventually, but there are so many good games coming out in the near future, not to mention DLC for games I already own, so I'll probably just pick it up from the bargain bin when I have nothing else to play.
For Honor was released today. I was browsing through Playstation store, and I couldn't help but notice a banner offering in-game currency that you can purchase for real money. Ubisoft

@Rincon if you struggle at all in Nioh get to 10 in Omyo magic. The Sloth talismans are a game changer for bosses and yokai. Been helping me tremendously.

Re: General Games Discussion
Have only used the fire and lighting magic so far (I think its the first ones).
Been focusing on ninjutsu and ranged weapons, have you checked it out?. The third mission, the one where Nue is a boss, I beat without dying until I got to Nue and he killed me ofc. I'll try to beat him today if I have time.
Having the extra ammo from a jutsu (+2 ammo for bow/rfile) helps a lot, the shuriken, the kunai, the bombs, the power pills. All that plus keeping enemies at rage with the kusarigama makes it somewhat easy to sweep bases.
That's how I killed the second boss as well. Power pill or thunder talisman to buff my melee attacks. When she went in the air then kunai or magic arrows. A bomb or two and then spirit weapon when she lost her ki.
I get the feeling I'll struggle more vs Nue.
I'll get more magic later on.

Re: General Games Discussion
I haven't messed with ninjutsu much, although I have points in every tree to some extent because I want some of the passive skills
Nue wasn't actually that hard, just had to be patient. Think it was the first boss I beat solo actually, lol. Took me 3-4 attempts though because I kept getting greedy.
Sloth is GOAT since it slows any enemy down for like 20-30 seconds, let's you go HAM on bosses and Yokai
I've been focusing on spears almost entirely but tbh getting bored of them

I'm halfway through the game, heard there are 6 regions, not even gonna attempt the plat, just want to finish it before Horizon is out, I have done 90% of the missions in the first 3 regions so far, really fun game though
