Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
It's not a top 3 HBO show, but it's probably in my top 5
at this point in time I've forgotten a lot of it but I do know for certain that Al Swearengen is GOAT
I forget if you ever mentioned watching it or not but you should try Justified if you haven't yet. First season is iffy but the rest is GOAT lvl. Guy who plays Bullock is the main character and shares a lot of similarities with the character.

Mr Nick09 wrote:I just want to say, thank you for name dropping Deadwood in this thread. Watching this show has provided many sources of tv enjoyment in the past few days. Couple of points:
-Why is Bullock so damn angry all the damn time?
-i feel prompted to call everyone a "cocksucker" and i am now afraid i will drop it in the worse place possible
-Eb Farnum is my favourite character in the show
- dunno about this being top 3 goat HBO show
cocksuckers
edit: Mr Wu is pretty great too. Sweagin! Cocksucker! San Francisco Cocksucker!
oh and the dialogues are fantastic in this show, amazing writers
I don't think we ever find out why Bullock has the biggest chip on his shoulder in TV history
While watching deadwood I dropped "snatch" at work by mistake. Oops.
EB's actor is fantastic, I loathed him at every scene.
I thought it was good but not great the first time I watched it, but the 2nd time for it my appreciation really grew.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
The Punisher season 1 was pretty good. It didn't quite live up to the promise I thought it had when I first started watching it, and the last few episodes gave me the impression that the writers just wanted to wrap it up fast - but it's a pretty good show, nonetheless.
I recently started watching Iron fist. I'm halfway through the first season, and what a friggin goofy show it is. It's packed with clichés, awkward writing and a script that is pure banter at times. Not to mention, that it's lacking in any form of consistency. The protagonist could beat up 15 guys in a flash in one scene, and then struggle against one random bad guy in the next one. Every time something is at stake and he has to beat a single bad guy in order to avoid something bad happening, he inconveniently forgets that he has a fist that's capable of smashing through metal doors. Instead, he opts for a few flashy, yet extremely ineffective moves, inbetween sessions of getting pummeled by auditionist 135C. You simply just can't take this show seriously
Oh hey, CB. I see you're back from your name changing adventure

Yeah, every scene in this show seems to have a cliché in it. I think the drunk guy has been the most interesting character in the show so far, though
Have any of you guys watched the TV show, Legion? I've been told it's the best show on TV right now

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Mindhunter is decent. Its most like Zodiac out of all other Fincher projects. There's a few very unremarkable episodes (pilot is pretty meh for instance) and some bad characters. The actor who played Ed Kemper though was fantastic, really elevated the show.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Okay so Godless had great buildup but then the finale fell flat. Overall its good and worth a watch for Western fans. Netflix shows are quite overrated though. Netflix is by far the most common television platform people have and rate the shows they watch without full context. FX and HBO are better and it's not even close and I think people would agree if they didn't just spend all their time sifting through Netflix.
Hope Dark is not overhyped.

HBO being better and not close isn’t true at all imo.
HBO is ridiculously top heavy compared to Netflix being more even imo.

Netflix has like 20 hot garbage shows for every 1 good show, heck even their good shows are overhyped to the moon.

More than that, and their best is ways ahead of Netflix's.
