I wonder if you increased the salaries of members of parliaments in all countries by, say, 50%, would you attract better talent? I would be all for that. There are so many more appealing jobs out there for smart, capable people than politician.
Corbyn is too idealistic, your prime minister should be flexible and a realist, but Corbyn has his principles and they're too left-wing, imo, sometimes outright fantasist.
Boris Johnson is a spoilt career politician who only cares about himself, will say and do whatever he thinks is going to make him popular.

Its always the same. The young generation never votes regardless of how loud they may seem. Politics is and has always been defined by the 40-80 age bracket which keeps countries in this era without progress with backward principles.

Should note the exit poll features 65 seats classified as 'too close to call'. https://t.co/5PaGWYyTL1

Because a conservative government in any country has never been good for anyone other than the top 1%.
But they run great media campaigns tbh. They somehow convinced people that the opposition were at fault for everything wrong with their country, despite them being in power lol.

because now Brexit will almost certainly happen, leading to the break-up of the UK, loss of quality of life and rights for British (and Europeans to a lesser degree), and a more divided world in general.Unique wrote:why do you think this is a bad thing for the UK.BarrileteCosmico wrote:RIP UK

Re: General UK politics
US Health insurance companies have to be salivating at the mouth at the prospect of carving the NHS up and loading up UK citizens with premiums and copays just we Americans are suffering under.
I sure hope the people who voted these Conservatives in do their homework on what deductibles are. The days of health-care related bankruptcy are coming.
Sad night for the UK. I feel terrible for the Labour folks, but where was the effort to get out the vote with British milennials and Gen Zers? Did Labour even try to get them out to vote?

Re: General UK politics
The pound has surged after a closely-watched exit poll predicted the Conservatives had secured a majority in the general election.
Sterling bounced from $1.3162 to beyond $1.34 - a gain of more than 2% - after the Ipsos Mori survey for Sky News, the BBC and ITV News was published.

Re: General UK politics
If your people is getting fucked, truly, then maybe look at the party that's been in power for 30 of the last 40 years lol.
What the hell do you know about my politics. You seem to think it's such a utopia to have Social Democratic government where you can get free healthcare and education. But somehow it's not really been a problem here in forever. I love how things are here.
Most problems stem from American/Chinese businesses and their power on a global scale and taking money out of our country into their own accounts. Luckily we're actually fining and taxing those corporations in some way now.
