They forfeit the matches and Inter doesn't get the scudetto after 10 years @Robespierre
Is Inter part of this?
Or is it just that absolute *bleep* Agnelli and Elliott management

I wonder how much more butthurt people would be if it was the oil teams being the ones who led this project.

I hope it happens, would be super intriguing to see how it goes (while obviously hoping it would fail catastrophically).

This is disgusting. I won’t watch another match of football ever again if this happens unless my country is playing.

Yeah pretty sure we aren't leading this as Perez has been talking about it for 10 years. Inter are Milan are part of it as well from Serie A.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
My understanding is that this new league is in addition to national leagues, just a replacement for Champions league. If this does go through, you can bet Bayern, PSG will jump on board plus a couple more french and German and then they round out with some representation from small soccer countries. UEFA will be left with EU (or previously named UEFA club) which is a 2nd tier cup.
This is basically a power play by the biggest (best) futbol clubs taking over the champions leaque. Uefa proposed the swiss style revamp of CL to try to stop this from happening, but looks like they failed. Uefa obviously doesn’t like this, but it seems to me they are powerless to stop this. Their threats are very hollow.

“As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams."
This is the real threat . If not a bluff it should be enacted immediately

The players had nothing to do with this project, why should they be punished? I'm sure FIFPro will have a say in this.

It sounds difficult to enforce for national teams. I imagine then it becomes a legal issue to be decided in court. The players didn't make this choice in the end.
Another question is if UEFA/FIFA would actually do it. The euros wouldn't make any sense. The world cup would still be good, but likely without the top stars it would be diminished.
I think more than international competitions, the way to stop this is through domestic leagues and federations.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
i think they're gunna end up reaching some sort of compromise between the Super League and Swiss style... whenever that will be and how it will look like, is anyone's guess... But money talks at the end of the day

Re: The European Super League Megathread
for int games they said "could" leaving leaving door open for them to fall back ,but for domestic games they were pretty decisive . The 12 clubs think they can keep playing in their leagues and do this on top (while gutting the CL). Uefa disagrees . Let's see.rincon wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:“As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams."

Re: The European Super League Megathread
I'm not sure what the domestic federations can do, though. Deduct points, ban them from competing, etc. hurts the federations as much as it hurts the Super League clubs. English football would suffer immensely without Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Spurs and United. These are the clubs with the big audiences that Sky, BT, Amazon, etc. are paying the big bucks to access; the likes of Everton and Leicester wouldn't keep getting £100m per year from TV after they leave.
The Super League clubs hold considerable power here. The only thing that could realistically scupper this whole thing is if the players refuse to participate, which I'm sure would have all sorts of ugly legal ramifications attached to it. Threats to ban them from international competition might work, but I'm not sure how legally enforceable it'd be, or whether the FAs would be okay with not having access to their best players.
Only thing for sure is that it's going to get very messy for all involved.

Makes me curious as to what would a Serie A without the big 3 look like.
A league dominated by Roma, Lazio and Napoli? Atalanta?

cant abide by it tbh, despite my posts from 2018 on the first page
Champions League is synonymous with so many good moments in my life, from childhood to adulthood, hope the teams back down with this nonsense.
Pretty strong threats from the governing bodies for the teams involved in this. I support it too.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
UEFA, the English Football Association and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A have learned that a few English, Spanish and Italian clubs may be planning to announce their creation of a closed, so-called Super League.
If this were to happen, we wish to reiterate that we – UEFA, the English FA, RFEF, FIGC, the Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all our member associations – will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a project that is founded on the self-interest of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever.
We will consider all measures available to us, at all levels, both judicial and sporting in order to prevent this happening. Football is based on open competitions and sporting merit; it cannot be any other way.
As previously announced by FIFA and the six Confederations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.
We thank those clubs in other countries, especially the French and German clubs, who have refused to sign up to this. We call on all lovers of football, supporters and politicians, to join us in fighting against such a project if it were to be announced. This persistent self-interest of a few has been going on for too long.
Enough is enough.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Here's a clue as to why 12 clubs have signed up for a European Super League:
— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) April 18, 2021
They lost a combined £1.2 billion in 2019/20 before player sales*
And that was for a season where only the last 3 months were impacted by COVID...

Even being on the same side as him, how is the president of La Liga this clown

Finally the "gurus" of the superleague PowerPoint are exiting the darkness of the bar at 5AM, intoxicated with selfishness and a lack of solidarity. @UEFA and @EuropeanLeagues and @LaLiga have been preparing and they will get their answer. pic.twitter.com/1l76yNdqs7
